So heres whats up. I ride in wet conditions and mud quite frequently and the spikes on my pegs are wore down, and when my feet get wet they tend to slip off and I tend to run myself over. So heres the solution I have came up with... take a dremel or a grinder and sharpen the spikes but heres in lies the problem, if my foot would slip off after sharpened and i run my self over it will shread my leg up bad. so i was thinking that if i could keep my leg from under the tire then the pegs would be great ans the only solution i can think of is nerfs. does anyone make them and are they expensive? I could probably make them my self, but wouldering if anyone made them so i could see where they bolt up to make my own. any ideas?

You could make something like my R has on it. They bolt on the stock peg and go up and out to keep from any foot slippage.

i will probably extend my pegs too and turn them up a little bit on the ends if i do anything. My biggest thing is that if i sharpen them what it would do to my legs if i did come off. I still remember the pain and damage done to my leg from my bmx bike with after-market spiked pedals when i wrecked with that (i lived in a city then and was alot thinner) and i dont want to feel that again. not to mention that my pegs when done would hurt so much more. hey scott do you have any pics you could post up on here? so i could see them to plot something out.

I clicked on this thread because I wanted to see nerfs on a utility trike, dammit!

I've had nerf like setups on a couple trikes I've had. They were called brush bars and they gave you an area that if your foot slipped, it wouldnt fall under the trike. They were round stock but arranged in a box fashion and bolted onto where the footpegs mounted. Had them for a klt110, atc110 and for an older 185s I had.

Well here is my 87 mint Big red with a brush guard on it. I have just about the same one that will be installed on the 84 200es big red once I finish restoring it (3rd pic).

The ones I had looked alot like the one on the big red. I think the maker was CMP. Cheaspeake Metal Products or something like that.

AMEN

I have an old pair of MX boots that I wear 95% of the time when riding my utilities, the other 5% of the time I have chest waders on (for the mud hehe).

LOL Those "brush guards" actually look kinda cool. Hang some webbing between the front and back and you've got utility nerfs (kind of an oxymoron, right?)...

Sweet trike Scott, XMAN the spikes on my pegs are completely rounded. Oldskool83, I don't have the cash to shell out for some fancy boots, so my steel toe boots work just fine. I don't think there would even be a MX boot that would fit my feet and legs.
