I owned a 86 and a 87 Tecate. The 87 Tecate was the one that ran backwards ( Flywheel problem ).

Motor wise the 86 & 87 should be the same. The only thing the 87 had different is a keyed ignition and a parking brake...If my memory is correct that is......

I had a ´87 Tecate 3 that I sold to my buddy Roland 2 years ago.It had the keyed ignition and the rear park brake, just like Curtis said.
Also there are minor differences with the engine seals and some differences in the plastics.Jeb knows a lot about these.
The 87 one was sold 2 weeks ago on eBay for 350$ after the idiot Roland
had ridden it to death
I think the half of the Tecate 3 sold in Germany are ´87, at least the bikes I found on ebay.de.
