havn't posted in awhile. Im looking to put some new tires on my big red, I went with a 22 last time and ive not been thrilled with my choice in the sticky. besides cruising thats really all I use my big red for.
the rear end is setup with 2.5 inch wheel spacers a side and 10x10 douglas red label rims. the front is a 12x7 wheel with a 24inch swamp fox.
Ive found two good deals, one is 25-13.50x10 dick cepek spider tracks about 70% tread left.
The other is new 27-12-10 maxxis mudbugs free shipping for 100.00 what dop you guys think is better? I can add a lift shackel to the back if I need alittle more clearance. I can also get them in 26 which I know will fit no problem.
my main concern is whether or not I can turn a 28 inch tire. I have cobra utility exhaust, 350x carb, and will most likly do a top end in a month or so one size over and can add a webcam if need be. with the super low first gear I think ill be ok but wanted to ask what everyone thought.
thanks in advance.

ive ran mudlights and had tons of plugs in mine.
keep in mind the deals guys spidertracks for 50.00 both tires or mudbugs for 100.00(would be way more) if they were not these cheap I wouldn;t be doing it.
can a big red turn 27's?

I personally think 27's would be too big on a es. While you do have a low first gear, the rest of the gears are normal and the bigger tires would cause excessive stress on the tranny, drive shaft, clutch, ect. I personally would reccomend 25's.

conig it's been a while since I have posted myself but I would definately go with the 25" Spideys. I had a set on my 86 Big Red and they lasted very well, and did fair in the slop. I replaced them with a set of 25" Vampires and they are wearing well also, but I think old Red would have a tough time turning these tires in a bigger size. Especially if you are in some thick gooey clay like we have around here.

either would be a good choice, but I agree, don't go over 25's. As far as mudlights go, I know that people love them, but they wear very quickly, probably one of the fastest wearing tires I have seen. And once they are about half worn, that might as well be bald. The spider tracs or vampires would be great.

you know there is such a thing as regearing!!! Why do you think tractors have huge tires! If you need to go through nasty goo then bigger is better, but do keep in mind you might need to regear with 27s.

thanks for the responses guys.
I agree those rims look stupid on there. my douglas's are just plain polished rims.

You've got 489's on it right now? I'd go with some 23 or 24 inch Mudlites.
