Now I am faced with having to find a "good" clutch basket for my Tri-Z build. When I look at some dealership websites, they show this as being backordered. I couldn't get the same answer from 3 different dealers that I called.

Am I at the point that this build turns into a living room display, or is there ANYTHING out there that can be purchased new? I have found out the hard way that buying used isn't always what is described or photographed!

DEAR GOD, WILL THIS PROJECT EVER BE COMPLETED?? I want to ride!:beer

You know, if they could be had for that price, I would probably go along, just because it was the only option. The stealers in this area show 220 for an OEM, if they are really still available.

That would make you number 4 out of 10.Six more people and I will have them made. They will be made by Wiseco,Which is probably the strongest, best baskets available.Wiseco is up the road from me and we have been talking, even having them made to hold banshee clutch plates so there will be more options for clucth kits.Any other takers???The final design could either be stock or made to hold banshee plates. It is up to you guys.

I have been told that Yamaha plans to have some available, but not for another 30 days. I guess I will have to buy ANOTHER used one and see if I can get some clear photos to prove that the fingers aren't worn to the bone!

I found a different site earlier, but they said they wouldnt ship to the USA. If I could get 25 preorders of $50 I would build them. I would probably have a price of $125 for everyone who preordered and retail them for $150-170. The only problem is.... It would take me 3 months to work it in.

I am 100% in for buying one for $125. I could give you the $50 down once I start working full time after college after may 11 if that is soon enough.

What is the benefit of the aftermarket or billet hubs? Now that I am finding these available from Yamaha..............after I just bought a used one, is there a good reason to spend more on these baskets that have to be mated up to the stock gear drive?

I don't care one way or the other, unless there is a good reason to chose one over the other!

Are they available form Yamaha???? They actually told you that?If so that is cool.
The benifit of the billet aluminum is That it is stronger aluminum. They also add oil holes to the fingers of the basket to help the plates release better and cool better. Most aftermarket ones are hard anodized and resist wearing out at the fingers like stock ones do.They willl not groove as bad stock ones and last longer.how much are the yamaha ones?If they are available.

I first spoke to a dealer in Oregon on Wednesday, and he contacted Yamaha to find out what was going on (some websites are showing backordered). They expected some to be ready in about 30 days for $180. He said there is always the chance that something goes wrong and they don't come through, but they were "planning" to have some in a month.

I sort of ran into the same situation when ordering a new rear fender; they were showing backordered, and indeed took about 2 weeks before they were ready to ship.

I have a guy putting my tranny together, and he called my yesterday and said that he can get me a new Yamaha basket in a few days for $220. Not sure where he found it yet, but I'll ask him this afternoon when I see him.

I'll see how this used one looks when it shows up that I purchased. I'll still be interested in a new one, just to be safe and if nothing else to have for a spare.:beer

I just ordered a billet basket from them. I hope to have it in 2-3 weeks. I am afraid with shipping and other bs, I will be looking at a $250+ billet clutch basket. I will watch my credit card for the total charge. I will go a head and make a run of them and hopefully everyone buys from me instead of the Uk companies. I will at least be able to improve apon the billet basket they have designed. I will start up a pre-order this weekend and get started on it.

Here is a little update, with everything included.... the billet talon basket cost me over $250. With shipping, importing tax, basket etc.... I will look over their basket and it will make building mine that much easier, and I will improve on their design as well.
