cam chain tensioner

is this thing spring loaded or is there an adjustment, the one bolt is froze for the moment and i figured i wshould check this out before i go tearing it apart. i did finally get it running, thanks for the suggestion on a new plug, i don't remember who did it. is there supposed to be a bolt for the oil drain or is it a rubber plug like is in mine? it looks like the previous owner may have broken part of the threads somehow and put a plug in it.

I got a BIGRED and the oil plug threads were stripped out. I'm not sure of the exact size, I think the Honda has 12mm threads, anyway I replaced the oil bolt with one from a Suzuki lt250r the threads are larger, I think 14mm. I drilled and tapped the BIGRED for the Suzuki bolt and....no more leaks!

Hey Jay, yes is supposed to have (steel) drain plug. Like samster said, threads are prob stripped. You can prob just re-tap it and get correct plug. Don't forget filter when changing oil! I don't think ther is adj. for timing chain tensioner (spring loaded). My Honda Svc. manual shows no maintenance on it.

there is a bolt on the bottom end behind the cylinder. It should have a rubber cap on it run the engine and bring it to temp. Loosen the bolt then
run it again rev it whatever it will readjust itself tighten back up

DO NOT rev the motor while the auto chain adjuster bolt (behind the cylinder on the left case half) is loose. This could cause damage to your timing chain and gears!!!! Let it warm up at idle, loosen the auto-adjust bolt (ensuring that the bottom nut doesn't turn) and re-tighten it after just a few seconds. If you have any adjustment left, it will auto-adjust immediately when you loosen the bolt at idle

someone will have to show me a pic of this bolt, i haven't seen anything that would be the bolt you guy's are talking about
