Best way to clean dirty carb?

I have a carb of a 87 250sx that has not been run in a couple of years. What is the best way to clean it and get it in the best condition to use?

Carb cleaner and Compressed air.

Or just do a - Re-Build Kit ...

best way possible would be a re-build kit and soak the carb in some cleaner and blow everything out. Or for a quickie (if you can still use the gaskets) take it apart, clean with some carb cleaner and blow with compressed air like edog said
