Anyone here done this yet? Ive been thinking for my next project of using a newer cr 250 motor in an atc. Should i expect a high first gear like my 500 has? What is the hp differences between the cr and atc motors? Does the frame need to be hacked like my 500 or can i get away with just new mounts. I did a search of the threads and wasnt able to come up with anything. Im basically looking for an overall performer for both woods and still be good at higher speeds ie roads, fields,...etc.

He has info. If you go with the 1992, I have mounts that will make it so you can mount it right up to the 250R frame. Speedbump did a conversion. He said it wasn't all to worth it drag wise. Said he got up to about 65 really quickly and that was about it. I guess it would be an excellent MX machine though.

I think the earlier cr motors were a direct bolt in, but since they had a close ratios 5 speed they topped out quick if you didnt do some serious regearing, I toyed around with the idea of putting a 89 cr motor in my flat tracker but since have abandoned the idea but I may use it for another project.

I was thinking of a 97-up motor.

Its not a direct bolt on. I had the exact same motor(the 1989).

The rear mount thatI had fit, but front mounts needed to be made. :D

I thought of doing the same thing but to my 05 400ex instead. Anyone know it the kickstart gears from a 250r will work in the 94 cr250 cases so that it would kick forward instead of backward?

You can get a reversing kicker start mechanism from Service Honda, they use it on thier TRxCR250r.
