I had the cylinder on my 110 bored out and I put every thing back together and fired it up. It ran rough. I noticed something dripping from between the cylinder and the head. It was gas. I put all new gaskets on. Proper torque on the head nuts. my question is, should there be a gasket between the cylinder and the head other than the copper cylinder head gasket, the cam chain gasket and the cylinder stud gasket. my books dont show one but it looks like theres a gap between the two like there should be one there. thanks for the help.

nope just the copper. there coudl be an issue with the gasket itself.

use some rtv silicone on it.

I ordered a new gasket. we'll see if that works. As far as the silicone, I thought you couldn't use that stuff because of the heat and the gas would eat it up?

rtv silicone is heat resiestant

but you shouldn't us it at the head gasket

i dont know why gas would be dripping from the head.....thats a odd one

not as a gasket but a sealent to help seal the gasket/ LIke if the head is warped and theres a gap where the torque wont let the gasket seal all the way the silicone will seal it up/.

but if there is a gap it would blow out......there is better stuff out there to use ....like Indian head

are you sure the gas didn't leak from the carb and run down to the head?

i cant see the fuel mist pooling enough to run out of the head....or are your floats to high and the carb filled the head with fuel?

The best stuff I have found is Copper Brite ( Hi-Tac ). This stuff is available via Auto stores and is VERY heat resistant. Just spray a light coat on the gasket and let it dry, then repeat a couple times as needed. I have sealed warped heads using this method.

somebody else I asked said the same thing about the float sticking. I had just got done cleaning it again before I put the top end back together. It could have stuck? I checked for a warped head and cylinder and they were fine. So as soon as the gasket gets here I'll try again. If that don't do it then I'll try some of that stuff Howdy suggested. The torque on the head nuts (13-15 ft-lb) seems low but thats what the book says. I'll let you know what happens.
