If a stock 86 250r with a fresh top end puts out 38/39 horse power. how much does a good pipe add, such as the esr and paul turner. And with the piple add a good port job for mid to top end what horse power gains can be seen.
Can you get an extra 10 to 12 horse power with a pipe and port job?

I believe when you go to the websites of the exhaust manufacturer they will estimate the horsepower gain-mild porting will increase torque/bottom end and overall performance-but you need to get all your compnenets dialed in for each other to work with each other-IMO.Air filter as well will help you-increse air flow-jetting-etc get my drift? They all help in performance gains.
As fas as HP estimates, I am not the guy to ask-lol-there are guys here who are far better at that than myself to be honest.

Just porting and a pipe? Why stop there? You won't be running near your full potential unless you get a filter, open up the airbox, bigger carb, maybe mill the head, etc. It's not uncommon to get into the mid 50's with all the above.

You can mostly definitely get 10-12hp out of a pipe and porting. The carb, and reedvalve start to become a serious bottle neck though. The most important thing is to make sure whoever does the porting KNOWS what their doing, and is going for peak HP. The pipe is just as, if not more, important then the type of porting. Keep in mind that theres a trade off, the more peak HP you get the narrower your usable power range becomes. Not an issue if your drag racing, or doing something like flat track where your keeping it out of the lower RPMs anyways. So to sum it up, I definitely think 10-12hp with the correct type of port work and a pipe is do-able but its not going to be happen by just anyone or any old combination of parts thrown together.
That sound right.I have been looking at getting mine on a Dyno.
