mid 90s CR250 from the looks of it. I can tell it was originally nikasiled cause the displacement is 249cc

It is ported and polished and the bore is great. I am wondering if I could use it on a 250r lower without the powervalve?

I think someone here did it, but from what i recall it required extensive work to make it work. I think it was also tried without the powervalve and didnt run right,

If you can't return it I would be interested in it.

Looks like a CR to me. It's not going to work with your motor unless you are extremely dedicated and have a large wallet. Don't know how much you paid for it, but odds are you can just resell it on ebay and probably get what you paid if not more. List it as a CR cylinder, I'm sure there's a market fot those!

There is a way to disable to the PV on it. I think ESR has a blockoff plate...

I think it will fit on your bottom end though. Not sure.

Yes.......that is a CR cylinder, not a 250R.
EsR does(did) make a blockoff plate.........not sure how that works.
All that I do know, is that when you disable the powervalve, you have a narrower, but more agressive powerband.
If what you wanted was an R cylinder, then contact the seller, tell them it was wrongly described.
Just make sure you keep your timeframe in mind for eBay, or PayPal protection.

That's a 86-91 CR250R cylinder, and I'm almost positive it's a 1991 because of the bolt-on rear waterjacket elbow. I would be concerned with the big hole drilled into the left rear cylinder port. That shouldn't be there.

I wonder why it is there?

hmmm....that hole..could be a vacum port (or had a fitting there) possibly for a fuel pump of some sort (maybe alcohol?) any ways theres one member here that I talked to about putting a pv top end on my 250r motor and he said esr does make block off plates, it makes wicked power but the plates have to be welded in though, and you need longer head studs to mount the cyl, but if you didnt get it for that much I would slowly get the parts needed for the conversion if it was mine. .02 cent is done!

I am looking for those plates if anyone has a link. I was on ESR this morning and didn't see them.

Thats just where a waterneck would go in and use the same type of hoses the ATCs do. I think the ATC ones will even come out a regular cylinder with some work and probably press right in there.

Na I'm talking about the round hole above the intake. The regular 250R cylinders have a waterneck right there. I don't know enough abour the CR250 to know if that is stock or not on this one, but if it isn't, then its there so that a person could run the stock configuration hoses. The holes on the sides towards the exhaust are powervalve covers.
