I recently bought a 1983 honda 200E. It does not run. I started working on it today. I am having trouble however with the wiring. A few extra wires connected to nothing and some loss or broken connections. The pull start handle is missing so my only way to start it is with elctric start.
1st problem- If I jump the terminals on the starter relay, the motor will turn over but gets no spark. I put a new ignition coil and spark plug on it but still no spark.
2nd problems- The kill switch says its turned on. The starter button is getting power. If I hold the starter button in, the nuetral safety swith gets power too but it still wont turn over.

Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks

Mine along with a few others do the same thing with the electric start. You tell your self "it turning over fast enough for the engine to catch but still nothing". MINE IS THE SAME THING. if that battery is NOT completely 100 percent top up with charge for get it not going to start. when i replaced the battery on mine with a 780CA battery it worked great. If that don't work then your starter needs a good cleaning or a rebuild.

As for the starter switch not working, you may have to do what i had to do and bypass the relay. go stright from the switch right to the starter relay AKA soleniod.

get a buddy (or your self) to keep pressing the starter button while you test for the wire that is getting power after you press the button, then cut that wire and run a direct line to the soleniod. If you can't get what i'm saying i'll try to explain this in more detail...it's kinda confusing.

Thanks for the help but I got the starter switch working today. I just cleaned the connector and jiggled the wires going to the switch. One wire seem loose so I might have to replace the swith or just jiggle it everytime I want to start it.

I still dont have a spark though when I turn it over. It has a new ignition coil and spark plug. How do I test the stator and/or CDI? Is there anything else I should check?
