I recently made the decision to upgrade from my stock 85 to a 86 stocker. My question is this, I am aware the front bolt, front bushings are different-but will the stock 85 shock bolts, arm and shock work on the 86?I have the new rear caliper bracket already for the 86,got the swinger, need the "dust seals" and front bolt for it, but the shock is a mystery to me.Also I see alot of guys have these "pivot arm kits" can these still be purchased and whats the advantage over the stock arm?

the swingarm bolt is the same, bearings, seals and collars are the same. The only things that are different is the carrier, axle, and brake stay.

The collars and bolt are the same?I tryed to bolt in the 86, it seems alittle small, as well the collers and outside "dust seals" would not fit onto the 86 at all. Also, the needle bearings are gone in this 86 swinger, can they be replaced at all?

Ive done this mod and the collars ,dust caps, pivot bolt and needle bearings are the same ,i only changed some needle bearings yesterday im my 86 swingarm and i used a 17mm T wrench which is a perfect size to slide into the swingarm and tap them out this worked perfectly as they were very rusty.
Not sure if your aware but the 85 brake calpier and stay is different to the 86 model i had to change these out when i did my 85 conversion.

Good luck with your project.

Thank you.I tryed to use the dust caps, etc from the 85 and they do not seem to fit, they appear to be just a tiny bit smaller.I mic'ed the bolt and it is 0.065 smaller that the 86(I ordered it from Bike Bandit-love them)also, there appears to be a small sleeve in the swinger for the collars to seat on when installed-is this removalable?I purchased on Ebay that brake stay with snap rings for the new 86 swinger, along with the brake line retainers too.Can the sleeves be removed in the swinger and replaced?or are they part of the new needle bearings?:wondering

The sleeves are separate from the bearings ive got a set soaking in oil at the moment that are frozen to the pivot bolt so hopefully they will release.

Thank you for the help.I removed the needle bearings, collars, caps, and ordered all new-I figure why not-but the price of 240+ dollars with shipping made me look at the CC statement again-phew things arent cheap like they used to be for sure! They want 64 bucks for the swinger bolt, darn!!!
