Well I woke up this morning planning on going to work and just doing the same old same old lol. Ive been a little bummed cuz the wife put the kabosh on the 125m. So as I do every morning I got on the local classifieds just to see what was new and loe and behold I found a deal that I just couldnt pass up!! I yelled over to the wife to come look and the diamond in the rough I had discovered and I got the reaction I figured I would "Its a pc of crap and you dont need another one". So after a few more min. of trying to pleed my case and her standing fast with her decision about me not needing another one...........I went and picked this one up:D :D :w00t: I mean come on how could i pass it up?? i got it for $250.00 and it runs great other then a little head noise (chain or valves i hope) It does need a new reservoir for the brakes as you can see and some other things but for another $250-300 ive got a 1984 200x worth $800 - $1000.

If anybody has parts for one of these please let me know.

Well as I stated in the first post, $225.00 for a fender set, $15.00 for fork boots, $50.00 for a new tank, a reservoir and I could get $800-1000 out here.
Worse case I make $100.00 on my investment and I have another trike to tinker with until then.

Nothing lost and fun times with my son tinkering to gain. Sounds like a great deal to me.

Dammit!

Need fork seals and apparently the return spring for the kickstart. Not a bad deal though.

dude,
You need to listen your wife, theres no way 300 bucks is going to bring that trike to a 800 dollar in worth level....

You need to quit shelling out 250 each on these projects. save up some coin, and just go out and by one in good shape. then instead of spending time wrenching with your son...the whole family can be out riding.

In addition, this will give your wife "the money was well spent" feeling.

Not the "250 bucks on a rust bucket that needs 600 bucks more" feeling...

Even though you've begged the wife to peel off 250.00 for this hunk, does she know its going to eventually suck at least another 400 out of her purse?

cmon dude .....the gutter is no fun to live in...keep her happy...my.02

Well I understand what you are saying but the truth is, I am operating off profits from sales of other things I have already purchased put some time into and flipped. I picked up a "hunk" 200cc moto 4 for 50.00 and sold it for $400.00 after tinkering on it and getting it running. Went back 4 days later and bought the other one the guy had for $50.00 sold it in 2 hours for 200.00 as a parts bike to the guy that bought the first one. Every purchase I have made up to this point is paid for with no real out of pocket expense other then about $200.00. The way I look at it is as long as I can get out of it what i put into it then its all good. The wife is more concerned about space and "what the neighbors will think" then any real expense. I already have a buyer for my 185s Im building of which I paid $200.00 for and the guy has agreed to buy it for $300.00 once I get it put back together. So for now I will ride on the weekends and tinker on the weeknights and make a buck or 2 where i can. Im certainly not in it for the tiny profits im making its more about the joy of tinkering with my son and the excitement he gets from making ANY money off one we "fixed up".

We have all done purchases like that. If you get it running and looking like new, all lost is found. It may not have been the best thing for your relationship but, when you get wreching on that thing you will love it (or hate it). I did the same thing with a "Free" 1981 200. Now it looks great but after the $800 I put into it I wish I haden't .

Good luck with the resto. and thanks for saving one more threewheeler!

I think you will be just fine with your purchase. I bet everyone on here at one time has brought a trike home that looked like it or worse. Get it running good and looking good and upgrade from there.

Yeah.. parts are plentiful for those X's so you should have no problems finding what you need.

I'd be a bit concerned about that kicker though. If the return spring broke you'll need to split the cases. That spring is about $7-$12 drpending where you get it but if its the gears themselves it will be expensive.

Here's a useful thread that howdy posted about the 200x kicker issues.
