I am not getting any fire on my 82 250R.
I replaced the stator. It is a used one but it tested fine.
I am thinking I'm just gonna get another CDI box (wich unfortunatly has been discontinued) and coil. I have an ad in the classifieds section.
Is there anything else I can check out?
By the way, the stator and magneto I got were out of an 84R. but it looks identical.

Check your coil, coil wire, plug cap, check for broken or grounding wires or bad connections. The CDI should be the last thing you replace. I think its even possible to test CDI units.
Try and find someone close to you that you can borrow parts off of, save the trouble of wasting money on not needed parts.
The stator should be the same, 81/82 and 83/84 R engines were the same except for the color.

does anyone here know how to test the cdi?

First measure primary winding resistance. You need multi-meter that can measure resistance or ohms. Set meter on x1 scale and put the - lead on the ground of the coil. where the mnting bolt goes. Then the +lead on the spade terminal of the coil. resistance should be 0.25-0.35 m.
Next measure secondary resistance, between +spade and plug wire end. Do this on the x1K scale resistance should be 5-7.5 k ohms. I have seen coils that I can't get to show up bad with this test but replaced with known good unit and it worked. Good luck.

In the service manual it gives a detailed chart to follow. Buy the service manual if you still can:Bounce I'm looking at a service manual for the 87 kxt 250, it's probably simalar but not exactly the same.

Right before you pull your hair out take the CDI off and smack it on a concrete floor about 10 times and put it back on and tell me if it starts. Seen this happen a half dozen times or more on various honda's. My 125 got to wear it would die out at WOT and was starting hard and finally one day it wouldn't start at all, no fire. Pulled the CDI and beat the crap out of it and finally got a good hot spark again and all is well.

to bad you cant do that to motors and make them have compression.

I know my stator plate is cracked and caused problems. Hair line crack right around it. Check for this aswell, usually breaks around the bolt holes.
