Hey guys i got a rack from fuelatv and it doesnt fit. The wire on the back of the 85 R frame by the taillight mount is part of the problem. What exactly is this wire for? anyone else have trouble with their rack mounting up? He seems to think that you can just mount the front 2 or the back 2 bolts and then rotate it either way and force it on. I have tried and it simply wont go.

The wire is to hang your Car Key's ...

Cut it off if it has no use !

I wouldn't cut it, it's OEM and most R's don't have it!!

just bend it out of the way so when you do want or need it it is there.

It's a brace to keep your tool box (if you have one) from getting busted off.

Thats what its for and it only came on the 85 frames. Cut it off, no need for a toolbox on a honda anyway

I shouldnt have to cut the thing off though. Hey guys i got some racks for sale, they fit perfect, you just gotta cut a bracket off of your frame :( WTF is up with that? How could he have sold 120 of these and not had any complaints? I COULD cut that wire off but im not going to simply because i shouldnt have to and i dont want to. When i buy a product from a company and the product is made for a certain application, then i expect it to fit and thats all there is too it. I have 2 85 250r frames and it doesnt fit on either of them.

It's similar to the DG grab bar for the 350X. I went to order one from DK and when I ordered it they said "there's a note in the computer that says the tailight must be removed to install it". I thought to myself, this is crazy - just because I want a nice grab bar I have to lose or remount the tailight and that isn't right. I still ordered it and I didn't have to remove the tailight but apparently on some models you do have to.

For the price we pay the parts ought to fit right and only improve the OEM stuff, not remove it!!

I think the reason i have not had any issues until now is that most people have removed that wire. The bolt holes will line up perfect on both the 85 and 86. I will make a note on my website that the wire must be removed for installation on the 85. Thansk for the heads up .......

SOOO thats what that stupid piece of metal which was welded to my tail light mount was.....Haha mine broke off before I got the bike. Cut it off and be done with it. Unless this is a OEM restore, which you wouldnt be using a 6 pack rack with anyways
