200e Big Red electric start

I have an 82 200e I am trying to get running. It has electric start, but no battery. Does it have to have a battery installed to start or run? I tried pulling it and it has spark, but seems weak.

Could I just hook up my 12V jump pack to the cables and use the electric start without a battery?

yeah i do it to my brothers bike, i jump from the truck, with cables, to the battery cables if it dont work make sure your fuse isn't blown, if it has one.

Yeah you can run with no battery, but I heard its bad for the stator. I run my 200m without a battery, but its a beater so I really dont care.

Yeah, I had an 82 that got spark, but was really weak.. she just wouldnt run no matter what though.. and i never had a battery, so i dont know if that had anything to do with it or not..?
