Not sure what to do with these forks. I had a heck of a time stripping the black paint off them. then I cleaned them up with the wire wheel. (not done yet)

So I'm not sure if Its worth the hassle to polish them or just repaint them black with PJ-1 and some clearcoat.

I'm guessing these parts get hammered on pretty good so are they worth polishing?

What would you guys do?

Dammit!

I was going to paint my 200x forks black but lately I've been re-thinking that. My theory is, yeah polish dulls quickly but a little Mother's Polish and it's shining again in a few minutes. Paint on the other hand gets scratched up and is a lot more difficult to touch up effectively. Advantage = Polish.

   yeah, I was leaning more towards the polished look. I clearcoated the smaller parts. would it be best to not coat the forks. this way they can be touched up easier? :wondering

I really only want to take this stuff apart once. :)

I just bead blasted my 350x forks and was going to polish them. I liked the way they looked after they came out of the blaster so I left them as is. I vote polish also. I have blasted painted part after painted part planning to repaint but have left everyone of them unpainted. It seems to me it would be easier also to maintain them unpainted. Paint never seems to last and powder coat is to much $$$$.

I polished my 350X forks and my SX forks.. its really easy and it doesnt dull easily. I usually just wipe off my SX forks with a cloth when I get them dirty and they are fine again.. or just a little Mothers. I'd definately polish them.

I polished mine, and the dings and what-not don't really show up much like they did when they were painted.

I am polishing my forks and tripples, and I plan on using Glisten PC made by por-15 to coat the polished parts. I haven't used it yet, and it is sort of expensive, but hopefully this stuff works well. www.por15.com

just buy those plastic lower fork disc guards and call it a day! if they even make them for the triz.

Too Late... :D

This was just running them over the polishing wheel with whatever polish was left on there. A long way to go but I think they will look ok.

Make sure you sand all of the dimples out with 800 grit then shine with 1000/1500 grit sant paper and then polish. Thats what I do.. makes 'em look great.

I went over it a bit dry sanding with 600 (I believe). I also used the wire wheel before hand. There are alot of nicks and gouges that won't come out no matter how much I sand.

there's still a bit of black paint in the hard to reach areas as well.. not sure what I'm gonna do bout that. I don't have any dremel tips that can ge to them.

I soaked mine in a paint stripper, spray-on aircraft gunk, for a couple of days, and most of the stuff pealed off when I rinsed it with a water hose.
