Hey guys what in the 89 trx clutch is so much better then the earlier models? Is it just the basket or what?

it has a nice big flat roller bearing at the end of the push rod insted of that little ball.

so is THAT the big difference? if it is couldnt you just get that bearing and upgrade it?

you need the end plate thing that you bolt over all the clutches. it is different than the older one because the roller bearing takes up some space.

If you upgrade get the whole kit, otherwise you will run into problems and yes it is that much better.

No, any basket will work, you need the pressure plate, rod, end cap, bearing and thin washer. Here are the parts you need for the kit.

I just ordered that kit from servicehonda. When it arrived I opened it and all I got was a pressure plate???
I ordered 06220-HB9-305 CLUTCH LIFTER KIT .
I called them today and they said they would get back to me.
Did I order the wrong one?
Dammit!

How much did you pay?
I ordered one last year and got the whole kit. That definitely is the right number.

You should get the pressure plate, bearing, washer, and lifter, for sure.
When I got mine new off ebay, it also had the rod, but that may come with the upgrade kit. I think the rod is the same anyway.........I paid around 60 dollars, plus the shipping. 06220-HB9-305 is the right number for the kit, I'm near positive, so you should have received all the stuff mentioned.

Can this kit go into the 86 motors though?

Sure can..........
85, and up.
You simply pull the pressure plate cover off, remove the ball and lifter, and replace it all with the update stuff.
You put the lifter in place, then the bearing, the washer, and then the pressure plate cover. Tighten down your springs, and done!!
Then you can enjoy a lighter, smoother clutch.:w00t:

I was going to ask if that kit will go into the 85 250R motor.
Apprently, my lifter, and rod are worn out, so if I am opening it up, I migth as well do it right.
Do I need the upgrade kit? Is that a different part # ?

Get the kit..........it'll save you a few bucks versus buying the parts all seperately.
06220-HB9-305 is the number..........I looked it up earlier.

I paid $55 for it, does that sound right? Still didn't hear back from servicehonda.
Guess I have to call again........
This is frustrating. Got a new clutch ready to put in and waiting on a upgrade kit I thought I ordered.

I got mine from ebay........paid about 60 bucks for it, if Irecall right, and shipping was about 7 or 8 bucks.
I got the complete kit, it works great.
You should get the pressure plate cover, washer bearing, and lifter in the kit for sure, plus I got a rod. I think the rod is the same though.
