That hard plastic knob that is turned to reset the odometer...still available? or can one be removed from a old junk OEM speedo head?

Just find an old 80's motorcycle speedo and take it off that. If its broken on yours, you will need to remove all the pieces off the speedo before installing another one.

I have a couple newer orange faced sppedos withe the exact trip odometer reset knob, just siliconed it up, loosened the rubber boot then pryed & pulled the m/f off...it was fused on the shaft via injection..lucky it didn't break..if the original older 'ATC' version I'm sure it would have broken as it's half rubber half hard plastic...I see these broke off from many speedos on e.bay..someone must sell replacements..like to find him..even though I was able to fix-up these old 'ATC' speedos I'd like to keep my orage faced ones nice so I still need the two knobs.

in the middle of the black knob there is a rubber cover, remove it and there is a small screw down the middle, undo the screw and the knob will slide right off the shaft and the orange face knob will fit...

Nope, no set screws anywhere, the knob itself is hard plastic then it's fused to a rubber tube so it's flexable, that is then glued or melted onto the odometer reset shaft..the rubber gets old and brittle then breaks-off where it meets the hard plastic knob, thus you have the problem of finding one to replace it....I see they were somewhat common on other Nippon Seiki speedo heads of that era so looking for help to find the source to purchase from.

Have you found a replacment yet? I bought a black face "atc" speedo with a broken knob.
