Hello all!
I'm new to the forum. I love those 3-wheelers and have 3 of them, an '86 Honda 200s, a Kawasaki 250 KLT, and a Yamaha 200.
I am having a spark problem with the Honda. It seems to be intermittant at least at first, now no spark at all. I suspect the CDI box. My qyuestion is, what boxes interchange? Mine has 2 plug holes, one with 4 prongs and one with 2 prongs. I have seen a couple on E-Bay that look like they would plug in, but the box appears to be a little bigger. Does it matter as long as the plugs are the same? Why are there so many different kinds? Help! It has 2 codes on it...VM4 and CF507

I just ran into to this same thing with 2 185 motors of my brothers and 2 200 motors of a freind of mine all with in 3 weeks of each other.. It was the primary ignition coil, its behind the flywheel and cost about $20 only takes about 30 mins..

Yes the primarly (stator) coil is the weak link in the Honda 185/200 trikes. Manyguns, do you have the repair manual and a multi-meter?

I can't remember the exact thread, but it was several years ago there was a old honda mechanic who said in all his years of working on these things he has never found a bad CDI. I would say the primary coil. I bought one on Ebay for $12. I bought a 200s a month ago that lost spark for $100 The guy butchered the wiring harness trying to bypass the CDI. I put a new wiring harness and a primary coil and presto we are back in business.

I have had them go bad. Not often but it does happen. I remember reading that too, but my experience has been different.

Thanks for all the replies. I have ordered a new coil and will try that. I will need a flywheel puller, too.
