View Full Version : Honda electrical wire color codes

This is off of a 87 125M but I'm sure lots of Honda's use this same type of color coding for there wires.

From L to R, as you can see, I have a Pink/white band, Grn/pink stripe, Grn/Pink stripe/Red band and White/Grey band

Here is what confuses me : Off the starter relay (not shown) I have a 2 wires and the one is a Green with pink stripe but in the harness (this pic) I have TWO Green and Pinks stripers but as you can see the one GRN/Pink has a Red band around it and I don't know what that is telling me?

My guess is that the band "deletes" the pink strip on the wire and it really is a Grn with red stripe, would tha be correct?http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v253/huffa/DSC04119.jpg

I also have the one one that goes from relay to starter but where does the long one on the mat go ? :wondering

OH, (just thought of this,duh) I guess that is the battery negative ground of course, by why so long?

Because it runs from the battery to the motor. ;)

If I was at the shop I could tell you and or get pictures ( I know you would love that!! lmao ;) ;) ). But, I'm at home ( quit work early today ) and I don't have that info. My brain is fried from lack of sleep, but I am thinking it mounts close to the starter.
