Is this a fair trade 250R for 350X

You think this would be a fair trade , the 350X is supposed to be in good running condition , front brakes are not working though and I haven't heard it run yet either , the 250R runs great , everything is in good working order . I have two 250R's and this one has been in storage since I purchased it about a year ago , I did take it out today ater cleaning the carb and it ran perfectly all day long . needs some clean up , has cracks in the the mounting holes of the plastic radiator fins or what ever you call them . anyway I’ve been wanting a 350X and this guy wants to trade straight across , what do you guys think , would it be a good trade ? assuming that is does run good . here's a few photos of both machines..

And i don't know what that metal grated looking thing on one side of the 350X motor is for either and he hasn't emailed me back to anawer that question yet

Have to say no. I would keep the R. Just my opinion but the x looks ragged out a bit. But perhaps it's the charcoal grill guard that's makin me think that.

Thanks guys , i was also thinking that the 350X seem to sell for allot more the the R's do , comparible condition that is , i know the 350X is going to need some work and if i didn't already have another R i would not even concider it . i guess tomorrow i will go have a good look at it , check it out very carefully

I've been watching ebay prices and i think the R would bring more money in that market, but it all depends what you're looking for. I would def. be robbing all of the best R parts between the two that you have and keeping the best before trading because the X isn't nearly as well kept...

You can find a better X than that...especially in cali...up here the Xs go for around 1500 to 1800 pending on condition. Rs go for 1800 to 2000. so no matter what the X looks like, id get a little cash with the R if a trade is involved. Its definately got a higher market value than the X.

How much is his asking price for the 350x? That will give an indication where his head is at.

Also, for a trade. i personally would pull that nice OEM seat at least, and put on a cheap ebay one. Seats like that are bringing in good money.

Yeah that 350x has a bbq home made heat sheild. I would say its worth an easy 1,000. The 250r seems to be in better shape and would be worth a few hundred more. I would pick the 350x over the 250r any day because its easyer to maintain. Just oil changes gas n go. My old waterpumper 250r seemed to be more of a hassle then a 4 stroke.

He just replied to my email asking what he wants cash for it instead of a trade and he said he wants $1250.00 firm but after today he is putting it on ebay and let the market decide , he then said that once on ebay it could go for $1500 or $1800 . i am going to watch for it and see what happens

Seat has been recovered, faded maier rear fenders, maier tank shrouds, non working front brakes, no fork boots, aftermarket bars, didn't appear to have a rear grab bar, probably no taillight, and if the dude was willing to slam a bbq grate on for a heat shield, you just know what kind of other crap has been done to it.

$1,000 tops. Your R looks a lot better than that X. There are plenty of 350Xs out there. Be patient. You'd hate to pull a bbq grilled 350X in the garage with the likes of what you have!!

Just for reference i paid 1200 for the X in my sig. from the classifieds here and i think it was a fair price but its fully functional and not too beat up. It came with smaller rear tires (in pic) and a pair of mud lites that match the front and are nearly brand new. Hopefully in the next month it wont have any ratty parts left on it...

Just tought i would updaste this .. I caslled the ad this morning and the guys says come on over . less then a half mile away . we get there and he takes us around to the back yard and there sits a pretty decent X which hes asking $1500 . i give it one kick and it fires up and idles ,didn't even need to choke it . he wesn't interested in another trike or trade so i went to the bank and pulled the money out . Man my wife is going to kill me when she notices another one in the garage .

Rode it up to the fireroads close by and ran it all day , it runs great . no cracks in any of the plastic , seat is like new , the tank has two deep scratch's in it but no dents at all , if it weren't for the scratches it would look like a near new tank . anyway here's a couple pics of it . i think it was a decent deal and i'm sooo glad i hadn't already traded for the other one

Oh yeah . and for the first time i actually have a trike with a valid title and wont have to take green stickers off my dirt bikes for it like i do the others . I know i shouldn't be doing that but without a green sticker they won't let me ride anywhere

strange how this all worked out but Yeah i will have to sell the R , everytime i buy another trike i've said i'm going to sell one of the others but hasn't haqppend yet . but i really am going to have to on this one cause it is beginning to get a bit out of hand i guess
