hey guys once again i have a question. i think i finally figured my problem sorta. i have a new spark plug. and two coils. i figure one has to be good. they have worked before. though it only fires sometimes and it is weak. i can hold the plug in my hand and it wont shock me. so does anyone know what my problem can be. i have many extra electrical parts. is it the rectifier? the previous owner said when it died it did like it ran out of gas. i am thinking that something went out in the electrical system and he thought it ran out of gas. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rectifier is to ensure the headlight doesnt blow.

Check the CDI. I had mine go on a poker run and it was like it ran outta gas. If it the CDI it wont have ANY spark

its under the left side panel (left side of rear fender on a sx i suppose), its a little black box with a clear/white plug going into the bottom of it.

Mounts onto the battery box. Right there is where the wires break, at that plastic connector.

Easy stuff first, on/off, wire, key switch etc etc...

Like I said, your gonna have to 1st get a wiring diagram. That will show you hoe to jump the key sw. and the on/off sw. Then check every connection besides those 2. Don't feel so overwhelmed there are very few connections between the CDI, coil etc etc.

You HAVE to get a manual and check all the resistance readings and Ohmm out the wires - piece of cake!

On my SX, I had the same problem. Someone on here told me to bang the CDI on a hard table and try it. It worked, everytime it wouldn't start I would beat the crap out of it on my work bench and I would get fire, if just for a few minutes. I picked up a CDI off of Ebay for $20 and haven't had a problem since.
