Does anyone have an adjustable strut for a Tecate handy that they could take an overall length measurement from when adjusted all the way in(short setting)?

I've got two 1st gen. struts, one of which was cut down that had a hack job of an adjustable conversion on it. Not only were the nuts welded on crooked, but when adjusted all the way down it was only about an inch and a half shorter than the stock piece. I don't believe that would be enough, so I'm just going to have the cut one welded together(straight this time) at the length of a shortened adjustable, and keep the stock one for the off season/different riding purposes.

Thanks in advance.

I put one of the 86 dogbone links on my 85 trike. It isn't much shorter than the 85 link even when all screwed in. I thought I could drop the backend down to race it, but the geometry must be different on the 86 cause I adjusted the 86 link to match the 85 link, just to start with and I only have maybe 3/4 inch left on top and bottom left to adjust with.
