How come when I find something on ebay in the USA that I want, the seller never wants to post it to me in Australia? Don't they have to go to the post office anyway? I am prepared to pay for all shipping costs, all they have to do is write my address on the box and pass it to the guy behind the counter. I cant see anything different than if they were shipping within the US of A except that it would cost ME more for shipping.......:wondering

Can someone please shed some light on this, as it is really frustrating not being able to get my hands on all the good gear you guys seem to get.

Thank you.

I don't mind shipping internationally but theres a lot more paper work to fill out if its going out of the country, and usually the doccument is different for every place it goes. If I send something to Canada I have one form, if I send it to Germany I have another. Its not that complicated to complete but its certainly a hassle especially if you normally do all your shipping with in home pickup from the US mail.

Yep if it's over 3 lbs you have to fill out a big customs form. But I'm sure you would be willing to figure that into the price. Mabey someone here who uses ebay would snag the parts for you, then ship them to you? Just a thought....

Well good luck with buying goodies.

I have sold items to international buyers before. Some buyers use a middleman. That way they can pay via PayPal and it makes less hassle for the seller. You may have to do that. Also some sellers will sell if you make arrangements before you bid. One time I sold to a buyer in Canada and I could not cash the money order. I ended up sending the money order back and trading merchandise.

I only ship out of the country for friends...Have to go get an estimate to that country, some weight and size limitations, and customs forms..sorry but a hassle.

I ship to other countries and I can still ship from home most of the time on smaller items. You can also print your custom forms right from home. Tires, frames and bigger items I take in and ship, the customs forms take a couple extra minutes but not a big deal. It helps if you use a small town post office where you don't have to wait in line for 20 minutes. I drive 10 minutes out of my way to go to a smaller town to use their post office, the time I save in line makes up for it.

Thanks guy's, maybe I do need a middle man, anyone up for it, I'll have a chat with my mate Aussieduner and see how he does it but I'd rather be able to do it myself. I have paypal so payment shouldn't be an issue.
cheers.

The paperwork is nothing. You have just been dealing with lazy dikwads .Next time maybe just have a buddy in the US buy it and then ship it to you.

yes i agree with the previous statement. i sell toyota truck parts on ebay and i have shipped stuff to europe threw the us postal service. it's just one paper you have to fill out and it takes a couple minutes.

i have a daily pickup at my house the UPS so thats why some people won't ship outside the continental us

i could send you the stuff.

Not too long ago I just did ship a light weight part to Aussie, no big deal really.

I'd help you out.

The insurance (I didn't get it) was crazy though! The part was 12 bucks and thay wanted almost 24 to insure it, I said forget it, I'll take my chances, it arrived fine but I was worried because the part is extremly rare.

I have always been afraid to ship outside the US because i've heard somethings get caught up in customs and theres alot of regulations crap on what can be shipped to where.

I ship internationally, No problem, but as far as conveinience, when I ship domestically I do it all on my computer and set it out for the post man never leave the house, when I ship international I have to drive to the post office and stand in line for 1/2 hour. Its hard to add a little to shipping cost to cover this inconveinence because international shipping is so High in the first place. I mean on my job I make around $30 bucks an hour. I always ship international with no problems in the past, I usually sell alot of vintage Jap street bike stuff and I have shipped every where from austrailia, UK, Malta, Brazil, Sweden, Denmark, even Tiawan recently.

I ship internationally, and the Post Office is in the same building that my Wifes shop is in, so getting an estimate is not that bad. If the buyer lets me know ahead of time I can get an estimate and not suprise them at the end with an outragous price. I tried doing estiamte online but they always seem way to high compared to what the postmaster can figure out to cost.

I don't know evertime I have figure postage online it has been very accurate, with in a few cents. At my post office there is atlest 15 people in line at all times so I don't like to visit often.

Thanks again Guys, those of you who have offered to ship stuff to me It is very much appreciated, and if any of you have your own ebay stores and are prepared to send stuff directly to me, I would much rather buy stuff off you, Maybe you could pm me links to your stores or stick them up here. I have about 15 mates with trikes that are always screaming for parts so this could be a good opportunity to clear some of your stock.

Thanks again

Ya I agree. I try to get parts and sometimes they dont mind the Canada part but then when they contact the post office they remind the shipper that Newfoundland is an island. Strangely I can send an item to one of ye and it will cost me half. But if you send it too me it will cost double. Any idea cost on shipping rear fenders? I am bargaining for a set.

Glad some of you guys dont mind....another thing to be careful of proving it got to another country if they file a paypal claim saying its not received....No regular delivery confirmation and yes I have had things stall in customs.

He simply asked why some people dont and I gave him an answer

Paul, I can be a middle man as well. I also have a few parts kicking around. I'm working and will be working mega amounts of OT and double time at my job ( 66+ hours this week, and even more starting next week ), so I don't have much time for listing stuff. But I can foward parts request to a friend and he can / will see what we have. ;)

I recently sent my first ebay auction out of the USA. I sent it to canada and it wasnt anywhere near as hard as I thought it was going to be. The customs paper took like 5 mins to fill out if that. Also, you can go to USPS and get an idea of what things are going to cost to ship to other countries. If you know the weight you can get exact pricing. From here on out I will offer shipping outside of the USA.

I shipped FEDEX to canada. The person who got it somehaow didn't pay the duty and all the other crap. FEDEX's policy is to charge the accont holder - me - the almost 40$ he didn't pay.

I was unaware of there policy and I won't ship anything there again unless it's by the USPS. It is more work but if the buyer will pay all costs, I'll do it.

You guys most certainly have a very hard time getting stuff to you. We take EBAY for granted and skip through hundreds of parts you guys would probably kill for...................

Everytime people ship to me in nada, I tell them to send it USPS so much easier and no charges. UPS/Fed EX/ Purolater rapes us, cause then I have to pay. When I got my cylinder from MI, it was like 65 bucks to get it to me. BS!

It is more work. But I get more bids when i offer to ship international. Most times I get 6-12 winning bids. The buyer knows it will take longer to arrive and for me to ship it out.I know which forms to use,So i take a bunch home and fill them out here.Yes it is a pain. But sometime i get a higher bid.Otherwise the one america would have gotten it for alot less.Which i dont mind. But i sell on ebay to make a couple of bucks. So the more i make, the happier my wife is!! :beer
