Do you think anyone would trade the 85 250r for my tecate??

Its possible. I think they'd be getting a good running trike and you'd be getting a beater if you did trade. A clean R is worth much more then your 85 TK.

clean looking 84, painted fenders? looks nice i like it cuz of the oem rear fenders, but they are chopped in the back. all in all though that is a nice ride, i'd give yah about a grand for it depending how it runs.

If I were selling I'd ask $1500 so theres room to knock off cash to please the buyer and still get close to what you want if not more.
I'd pay $1200 for it but no more.

One sure way to tell how much it's worth is to list it on ebay. (if your serious about getting rid of it) I kinda like the ghetto grey look. reminds me of Gazoo's SX.

why is a 250r worth more when a tecate3 is rarer and faster???
i found a 85tecate3 for $750...running condition but needs a kickstart return spring...any idea how hard they are to find???
it also needs the carb learned hopefully nothing else
the guy that is selling it doesnt know much about it but im goin to get him to find out what size or carb is on it and he said the motor was rebuilt last summer

That's not "Ghetto Grey", that's "Trailerpark Tan", baby!

I just sold my restored 84 for less than the price of the new rear shock and Kenda claws that were on it - I got a thousand CDN.
Sick of fixing it every 15 hours of ride time
I still have 2 85's though.....

why is a 250r worth more when a tecate3 is rarer and faster???
Several reasons. Not the least of which is that it isn't faster (the first gen version we're talking about here). The only T3's that are faster stock than the water cooled R's are the 2nd gen T3's. The first gen are very quick off the line but top speed the 2nd gen T3 and the water cooled R's are faster.
The 250R suspension is WAY better than the first gen T3.
The 250R is more reliable.
250R parts are far more plentiful with more aftermarket support.
That's not to say the first gen T3's aren't great trikes. Just answering your question why 250R's are more expensive. You'll find 1986/87 Tecates typically will cost quite a bit more than a 1984/85 Tecate also.

DVX,
If you buy that Tecate, P.M. me for a spring.
I have several.

Dammit hit the nail on the head. The 250R is a solid chassis to work with and lots of options for upgrades compared to the Tecate and Tri-Z.

Why is the 250R better??
Because of one very important word... HONDA
I have appreciation for all the ATC's out there. But Honda just seems superior - from riding, fit and finish. Everthing else had whacked out gas tanks under seats, radiators and overflows in strange places etc etc.
Honda's just seem "right"....

This isn't an open bashing for the first gen Tecate. Its still a great machine and with the right tweaks is a dominating machine.
Anyways, 1200 or more for your Tecate if it runs and needs nothing but a rider.

Around my neck of the woods they go for about $800 - $1000 in fair shape. I paid $800 for both mine and had to do verry little to them. Kawasaki products are not for everyone. I like them but then again, I've been known to enjoy a good Honda every now and then.
