This thing is a work of art, the guy just completed it and it took him a year to design it. He is going to send me more detailed pictures of it.
While some of you (I think it looks great!!) may frown at the idea of the 350X tranformation from 3 to 4 wheels, I got to thinking.............WHAT IF this guy can do a transformation like the other pic I have posted ???
I told him he would sell 100's, maybe even 1000's of them!!!
I'm anxiously waiting for his reply back to me.
Here is some info on the X ...........
this bike was just completed a month ago. by ----------- and Co. That is a company I own I have a small Fabricaiton shop in my local town.It took me a year to think up this fabrication. I have built two of these. The second one I done more research on. Used the works shocks and alot of 4oo ex parts and custom plaris plastic which fit like factory. This bike started as a 350x 3 wheeler 100% new oem parts including crated motor This bike as 5 minutes start up time. This bike handles as good as a factory 400ex, 450r. Like to go on more about the bike but going to work. I will try to down load some pictures for you to show you close up and details about the bike. These bikes are not offered any where else in the world these are customs. By me. Would consider building or selling one for seriouis buyers or power sellers estimatied fabrication price $10,000 dollars.
I'd give the guy some R&D money to develop it if he came back saying it was a possibility, would you?

he'd have to get the price down from $10,000:crazy:
btw what was he thinking turning a great 350x into a polaris looking frankenquad?
There is nothing wrong with that what so ever. We are one crowd that likes 4 to 3 conversion, he's in the crowd that likes 3 to 4.
We are the minority for sure.

Cool to be different but I personally wouldn't want to own it looking like that.. Maybe more honda 400ex plastics or something would be better..
Get that 450r 3wheeler going and that's a different story lol

true, but disturbing to see none the less.
It doesn't bother me at all, to each his own.

I want to see close up shots of it. It looks like the front fender section mates up to the tank perfect. I would not want one but love attention to detail and admire someone that can work a project out like that.
Yea, a different story indeed!! :beer

I would like to have a 450r trike, that is why I am gonna build my own starting with a custom frame, its gonna use stock 450r parts, 250r suspension and plastic and I leaning on using a yz450f motor, it almost fits on the chassis with very little modification.

To me it looks a little wierd right now because of how high the front plastic is compared to the rear plastic, but Im sure if you go a little bit bigger tires on the back it would even it up and make it look awsome!

Here is another pic angle of it ........
I do wonder though, with all the good quads out there, I'm not really sure why someone would take the time to do such a thing? I guess because he COULD ?
Note the nice works performace shocks :naughty:

Looks like a scrambler to me.  Personally I'd buy a new quad with alot of upgrades for 10 grand,, and let our old trikes be.

yea I think it looks preety cool, it different but 10 grand is a preety steep price for a 20 year trike converted to a quad

well, personally, he did a nice job it seems, but the plastic doesnt really match with honda, and the frame tubes look funky up fornt almost like a even wierder looking lt250r frame, and i dont think there is the demand for such a machine especially brand new.

im curiouse...if the fabrication price would reach $10,000 why not just buy a 450R for $6,000 or a 400ex for $5,000 or maybe one used even cheaper...nothing about that looks like its worth $10,000 to me
What is wrong with people.
Huffa Buy it?when you spend that kind of money you will want to ride it.Then you can put your air fooler up on a pedestal.:D

Looks similar a regular astro kit to me. All of the conversions I have seen look like this. The seats are too far back, and the steering stems are too high. Swapping the engine into a chasis that was designed to have 4 -wheels is the way to go. IMO...

I have to agree with everyone else here. It's just not a good looking bike, and why bother ? Too many good quads out there. I've had many 350X motors in 250X frames and they were great for well under 2 grand. I'll give him his dues for being able to fab it up, but it looks no different at all from the conversion kits of the 80's and 90's. But hey, who am I ? If it floats your boat, I say go for it.

I'd be happy if you R&D just a few peices to convert the bike. Let me go buy the 450 of my price range. Then you could make a bolt up subframe to work with the TRX seat and fenders. Figure out what if any mods need to be made to a swingarm of the same 450 or send in your stocker for fab work. New trees and spacers with an axle up front. The $price of the kit price may not look too bad then. Yeah 10 is too steep but a kit for $2000 might work. Airbox, front break, skid plates, and other little peices need addressing. You could always offer the complete bike.....but what about us tight to the pocket do it yourselfers?

That's right, what ever floats your boat!
If the guy could make up the kits for the 450's, that would be the hot set up with the cost of used ones depriciating every year.

We shall see if he contacts me. Most likely nothing will become of this but it is a interesting discussion.

Ugly Ugly Ugly. Those conversions were for a day that quads weren't so available. I do see your point though...
We really just have to stop screwing around and nail down some 4 to 3 conversions. MR ATC had started one but that seems to be taking a long time. Tossing a newer motor in an old chassis is great but still uses 20 yo parts.
There is alot of talent on this board and everyone has something to add. I don't think it will be long before we come up with something that will let us grab a used 450R for 4K and some custom parts for another 2K that gives us what we all want.....A reliable, fast, new and good looking ATC.

I agree, the 450R is the best canidate and if it depriciates like the motoxer's do, in no time they will be in the 2500-3000 range, or are they nearing that range now? I never really checked?

hey, really not a hard conversion, 4 to 3. just re-engineer the front of the frame to support the steering stem, the rest is piece of cake. most, if not all of the newer quads don't even begin to be strong enough to do that. maybe transplanting a trike or bike section might be the way to go.

04-05 trx 450r's are getting cheaper by the day. Ive seen nice ones go for 2900-3200 on ebay. A buddy of mine works with a guy that has a 04 thats beautiful and he wants $3000. Another guy i know just sold a very clean and low hour 03 raptor for $2500. Lots of used quads to choose from so price goes down FAST. I like to see our trikes are holding value well. Of course model and condition is a huge variable, but i plan on keepin mine as long as i can. But yes it would be nice to figure out a do-it-yourself 450r-yfz trike conversion. In time it will happen.

Yep, your right, they are getting down to where it makes sense to start thinking more about these conversions.
This Yamaha went for only 3300, that would make a beautiful trike! Most are going for about 500 or so more though in this condition, this guy was lucky!

Not my cup of tea but I do like to see someone spend the time and attention to detail this guy obviously has on this project though...
I definitely feel that the guys on here that have access, the knowledge, and will-power to do the 4x3 convesions need to get going, and maybe the guys that dont have these skills, could help fund it!! just kidding, but we do need to get SOMETHING going.
I would like to see a cr125 or yz or something be a platform for a handbuilt trike. I hope you guys understand what I mean here, I would just like to be able to buy "plans", or download them or something off of here that had detailed instructions of a complete conversion (several models available). Using as many stock parts as possible, be able to read from a list of what you would need (or have to scavenge from ebay) that wouldnt cost a TON of money, atleast not more than what a 450 would go for...
The only obstacles I see are the fork setup, and the swingarm-carrier-rearend setup, (and possibly frame modification). But honestly, once we had a "master plan, we could all practically have new trikes that were all of the same "model" (as if they were handbuilt from the same location, other than changes the builder would make)

Speedbump built a killer updated version of a three wheeler conversion and it tanked on ebay (didnt sell) and that shocked me....To me that tells the tale of no one really putting up the cash when it comes to getting a "newer custom three wheeler" His didnt even top 2500.00...Sorry to sound negative but I hear alot of .....All talk and NO spend $$!!!! IMO

It's beautiful and all and his work is top notch and may very well be worth the 3800 or more but a one off like that I personally would not want. I'd be scared I'd break an expensive part and be stuck with a 3800 trike that could not be riddem till another part was made and for 3800 it still was not completed and needed some minor fiddling with parts yet.
I'd rather have a kit that you know the part would be avaible at any given time.
