I won an 84 KX 250 cylinder off ebay last night. I gotta tell yet, those damned snipers are getting anoying. I bid $5 4 days ago, it stayed at $5 until less than 10 seconds remaining and then 2 quick bids were put in, on at $28 and one at $38, lucky for me I had raised my maximum bid to $45 a the hour before it ended.

Anyway I got it coming. It doesn't look to be in the best shape, but not too bad. I'll vacumn pack it for safe keeping for now. Maybe it'll be my project for later in the year. My T3s in pieces and I'd like to get it going and actually ride this spring and summer before I tear it down again.

I think I need a KX piston now, that sound right? Seems like I remember reading that my KXT piston won't work, but the KXT head is the same.

I have a picture of the exhaust port that confirms it's a KX cylinder but the darned filter here at work won't let me upload it. I'll upload the pic when I get home.

Yep, we've all been sniped before, just part of the ebay system. Glad to see you got one and hopefully its in good enough shape to chrome or be sleeved. You should like the results of this upgrade. All of jimmy Whites t3's had this cylinder and related components when he raced for team green back in the day. Completely legal upgrade, even up to 265cc in 250 class. Gonna be at tf-07? Should be some nice first gen t3's there runnin hard.

Chris

They use the same piston. The kxt head bolts up the same.

why dont you snipe? thats how you get stuff cheap without running the auction up yourself and fighting someone...

tecat-z, yeah, I'm gonna try to be at TF. Looks good so far as long as something doesn't come up last minute. It's a long haul from down here in Louisiana. I have firends in Louisville, Kentucky that I can stay with, but I'll have to drive that far before I stop. I'm not gonna stay overnight at a Motel 8 and leave my Tecate in a trailer outside, not even with all the locks I can find on it, nosir, not. Anyway I don't plan to put it on before TF. I've spent a small fortune rebuilding my Tecate this winter. Wasn't planning on making this mod this soon, but this cylinder just jumped in my lap. I fugure I'll have to sleeve it and I wanted to put on one of Sprock's cool heads at the same time. We'll see.

As for running hard, well I hope so. If this old carb I have will work okay for me I'll be happy. don't want to replace the carb just yet. It was just okay, not great, before I started the chassis rebuild. I hope to rejet it and get it working better this spring.

Anyone use those dial-a-jet kits? Thinking about putting one of those on to see what it's like.

hrc85250r, deep in my soul I just hate the idea of sniping. I know on the treasure items I'll have to fight them off, been successful and unsuccessful at that. I just wish ebay would care enough to institute a 30 second rule or something like that. I gotta tell you though, sniping for some things has crossed my mind. I recently lost a NOS chain guard to a sniper, pissed me off!!!!!!!!!

That would be great if you can make it. All of us tecate riders should go for a cruise around the place and get some great pics to remember forever. I'd love to see 10-12 first gen t3's all together at once, and this would be the only time we can make it happen. Then after all the love is shared, comes WAR. We need to have a first gen shootout on the track for fun. Man can't wait, ahh, then some cold ones. Yeah good times.

Can we sing cume-by-yah as we ride?

Sounds good, looking forward to seeing all the 1st gen T3s as well.

Sure we can sing whatever you want as long as it's followed up by Megadeaths symphony of destruction, ( the earth starts to rumble) Yeah you know that one, gets the blood pumpin!!!!

Now thats the one you want, Kx power. Is it still plated? or in need of a fresh plate. Or has it been sleeved before. Cant tell from the pic. But i can tell you that the bridge looks to be in very good shape. I've seen some that have separated where the parting lines come together during casting.

Really nice score! Go full out and get it ported while your at it. I've got a one season old 38mm Mikuni TMX all ready for a new T3 home!!! Check the classifieds.

tecat-z, the seller said it may need to be sleeved, I'll see it when I get it, kinda wanting to sleeve it and port it before I use it. I think it's crying for a nice Wiseco piston too.

Thanks BGM, I'd love to have a new carb, but I'm not ready for it right now. I have a rebuild kit sitting in the shop for mine. Gonna try to work with it for this spring summer, may replace it next winter. Chris

Nice score, I was watching that one but I'm glad to see you didn't pay alot for it. I would think about having it plated before sleaving if at all posable. I got a kxt jug that someone just butchered by puttin a sleave in it. I should post a pic of the jackassity of it all.

Yeah sleeving isn't always the best option. Nikisel lasts much longer if looked after and disipates heat better. Though if done right a sleeve is a good option!

Thanks for the sleeve opinions. I certainly need to learn more in that area. It will get the TLC it needs to be a runner, it is just gonna take me some time to get to it.
