very slick rides you have there. Does the blaster beat the SX. I only had a chance to race our SX against our blaster once and it was pretty even w/ the blaster being faster off the line and a few miles per hour top end. love the narow tire and paddes on the sx...great machines.

A Blaster blows the doors off of a stock 250SX. And a stock Blaster also beats a 250SX with High comp piston, Webcam and a 350X carb, just not as bad.

The sx has a cobra exhaust on it. In a drag race the Blaster will get the jump but my sx can catch up and stay dead even with it until the sx tops out and the Blaster will start pulling away.

yes a blaster is definatly much faster than a 250sx.

if you start moddin the blaster then its not even close and probably never will be no matter what you do to the 250sx

I forgot to mention but the Blaster was in dier need of a topend rebuild now it has a wiseco piston and an IMS crank so the Blaster just flat out smokes the sx now.

My SX has the same or more motor mods on it than any other SX I've ever read about in these forums. It's fun and I love the little cadillac but it isn't anywhere near the jumper or competitor that the 200X's are. And as far as the Blaster goes, unless they are beat (like most of them) and in dire need of a rebuild, they will shoot rocks at an ATC250SX.

But.... I'll back up out of a mudhole with the reverse and use electric start to get it going again while the Blaster is still yanking it out, LOL!!

The front shocks,Brakes and tire is from a 200x.

Yes, BUT - he is still running the stock SX triples.

Incase anyone hasn't heard about it, the 200X forks slide into a SX triple clamp and is an instant upgrade both cheap and easy. The front disc brake is superior...

It's alot more work to make a steering stop for the 200X triples.

What type and size of paddles you runnin there??

yamaha225
02-18-2007, 03:44 PM
The paddle tires are AMS Sidewinders the size is 20x11-10. I bought them from a friend for $25.00. I would not recomend them to anyone. There not much fun you can't play around as much with them as on other tires. I have even let my friend put them on a 400ex and KFX 400 and it's still the same. You can't get them to break loose very easily if you want to do a donut and you have to take off pretty quick with them or you'll just dig straight down. Some people may like them tough. That's just my opinion.

I wish I would have tryed to slip my 200X forks into my SX triples- didn't even think of it, I used the 200X triples, & had to grind down that very important gusset to clear that bolt on the rear of the bottom triple, AND I need to make steering stops as well. Hmmm, I'm thinking I'll put the old SX triples back on........
That's a sharp looking SX, if I do say so, TGG...............

That's because they are not intended for that.

I really like the looks of those red fork boots on that sx. are they the ones that are always all over ebay? Anyone ever check their local autoparts store for those shock covers. I'd be willing to bet they're alot cheaper there.

I'd like to run the X front end as well. but then I'd have to lose my front rack and speedo. But I'm sure it would steer alot better that the fat tire with the stock setup. That's really the only thing that bothers me about my sx. it steers like a tank and wears on you after many hours of riding.

I bought the fork boots off of ebay for like $20.00. The 200x front steers alot better and rides alot smoother. They also help when jumping hills too.

If your SX steers like a tank, something is wrong. Let me correct myself... My modified 250SX will keep up and or beat a 200X, it will slide and power out of turns but it cannot handle the harsh landings. I cannot compete in a section of whoops - forget it.

Yes, they are not made for jumping - we've all gone over this a thousand times - but it can made to be alot more than just a sport trike with the proper mods. I have pictures of my SX jumping higher and further than most 200X's have evr seen. Even if a rear shock can be made to fit, the swingarm and diff cannot handle the abuse. I still haven't broke mine and I'm not sure why as I jumped my 25 foot table top with the SX on a regular basis.

hahaa.. YES. I've seen those pics of you jumping that thing. :D What I meant by steering like a tank is it likes to push. meaning I have it turned but it wants to keep going forward. I think the skinnier tire up front would help with that.

Hi I was wondering what front end you used also. i just got a complete 1986 250r front end. I just need brake pads and a rotor. Then I will put it on my 1985 250sx. the stock front suspension is ok for cruising but it is to harst when coming down from a wheelie.

In that pic of my 250sx and my Blaster is a 10 foot slope that we were jumping. I broke my upper triple tree and can't seem to find another one. If anyone can help let me know. Thanks

I like your SX alot. I am about to start restoring my 85 SX. Finally found a mint seat on eBay that I bought today. Gonna get Maier rear fender this week. My main thing is that Every bearing is shot on it. I am the same way when it comes to it steering lilke a tank. Are the 200x forks the only ones that will slide right into the SX tree? I definitely want to switch to that disc brake. Is that my best option?
You can't beat the SX's with the little red reverse button and the electric start.

I've never tried any other front shocks. That 200x front end came off of an old frame that I had. Could never find a motor for it and a carb so I took the front end off and sold the rest.

Hi once I put the 250r front end on I can sell all the original parts. Message me back with anything you need off of the front end.
