hey all.new to forum but not to trikes.i just picked up a 1985 200x that i traded some speakers for.i am going to restore it .the motor is apart right now at a friends shop.i have a new stock piston,new 89-a grind web cam,will be getting a xr200 carb,timing chain and tensioner.it has some kind of aftermarket exhaust on it but dont know what kind.it will also get a valve job and port and polish.i am going to paint the frame,swingarm,gas tank,and handlebars and get new plastics so im hoping it looks pretty good when im done.anybody know what kind of hp gain i will get from these mods.i will post pics through my restoration.by the way how do you post pics on here.thanks

thanks.yea i got pics but cant get them to upload.could you tell me how?i go to manage attachments and pick the pics i want and it dont stop uploading.

You can just make a Photobucket acount. Load the pictures up there. Then under all your pictures it says IMG CODE just copy that and paste it here. Then your pics will come up. They still may to big then you will have to download a resizer. I use Photo resize or print. Man, I'm in Grainger county.... which is in the north east corner.. There are some other people on here that are pretty close to you though.

finally got the pics up i think.also was wondering if a midrange cam would work good with new stock comp piston.thanks everybody

the guy doing my motor pulled it apart and the plug they had in it was way too long.long story short,i need a new head,piston,and valves.so im going to go with a 10.25 wiseco and do a little wilder port and polish then i first thought.will try to get some pics of the plug and valve(took them with me).later

thanks digity.it will look totally different when im done.im repainting the frame red,gas tank and swingarm white.im painting the skidplates blue to match the rear shock spring and the blue seat and fork boots im getting.also going to get a 350x light and all new plastic.by the way,im originally from ny.i lived 20 minutes east of albany so not too far from you. see ya

finally got some time to work on the x and take some pics.im having the guy down the road sandblast everything for $30.after that it will get 2 coats of primer,4 coats of red,and 3 coats of clear.white on tank , handlebars, and swingarm,and blue on skidplate.the first set of pics are the plug and valve that was found in it.next is the x apart,and last is the exhaust.by the way does anybody know what pipe it is.it has no writing or anything on it.will post some more pics when i get more done to it.seeya

finally got some time to work on the x.got almost everything painted.the clear coat is sherman williams car clear coat.got some pics of my parts too.will post more pics as i get farther.

forgot to mention earlier that im changing my color scheme.will have red boots,red/black seat,red grips,red fenders,red 250r front fender,pretty much everything will be red,black,or white.and im getting a 3 angle valve job and a port and polish right now.guy i know gave me a head that already had HD valve springs in it.just need a supertrapp and a xr carb now.

Looks good so far. Im thinking about possibly restoring my 86 in the future if I dont sell or trade it for anything. The exhaust looks like a tractor exhaust that someone made work. But it dosent look half bad for a homemade really.

Man, if I could get sandblasting done that cheap I'd be in heaven.... Blast it all!! And paint it up with real paint and a hardner. No use going to bare metal and using spray bombs... Keep up the good work...

got some more done to the x.just bought a supertrapp off ebay for $35 so i dont need a whole lot more.

man I hear ya dirtcrasher on the sandblasting price. I was quoted 2 to 300.00 if I wanted mine done. Nice job so far.
