81 250R intake, yet again...

ok, so I have my cracked intake with aftermarket boost bottle all kinda of BS, some one here was saying I should go with the late style 250R intake boot, and a keihin PE or PWK carb. my question is, since Im a cheap ***DO NOT TYPE AROUND THE WORD FILTERS*** and dont want to pay retail on these parts. I can get a 86-89 TRX250 Intake manifold made by moose, in either stock size, or 38-39mm carb. If that manifold bolts on to my 81 250R reed block, Im guessing I could also go with the KEIHIN PE 38mm that DG sells already set up for the trx250 87-88, so it would put me closer to proper jetting. And I figure the larger carb will work good with my 300cc kit on it right now.

Will this set up work? or will have have to go with a late model 250R intake boot, and if I do, what size carb does it accept? I can also get a 34PJ KEIHIN, and they sell the PWK, but only in 28 and 39 (the 39 says its for a LT500R, so it might be a bit too big)

i never messed with air cooled 2 strokes but i ran a 39mm pwk on my 89 q-racer and it ran flawless

yeh the pwk looks like a much more modern carb, I might go that route since they cost about the same.

Isnt the PE carb a round slide? I would get a pwk or pj. Chances are any carb is gonna need re-jetted. I have bought several pwk's on ebay. They are all from KX's. The most KX500's have 39.5mm, I bet one from a 125 or 250 would most likely be a 38mm. Most kdx 200's use a 35mm pwk, and kdx 220's have a 33mm pwk. Just an idea

if I ever get it changed your welcome to have it, my whole family and most of my off road buddies are from san diego so I could leave it down there with some one next time im down there.
