This way is sure proof and no way can I mistake which length goes where.

Just thought I'd pass my idea on.

thats not a bad idea. one thing Ive found is when you pull all the bolts out, and go to put them back in, they should all push in, and when they contact the threads they should all be sticking out about the same distance.

yeah i used to do that back in the 80s...works good

now i just do like ratvespa said....after you push them in they should stick out about a 1/2 inch or so

Yea, your time will come I'm sure !

My memory has ALWAYS been bad.

I can read a few paragraphs and forget what I just read. I can read a few paragraphs and forget what I just read. I can read a few paragraphs and forget what I just read.

HEY, another good thing about this method is if for some reason you have a screwed up bolt or thread, you don't stand the chance of ruining another one since the bolt is going in the exact same hole. It takes not but a few minutes to do, so I figure why not, ya know?

just make sure the bolts are tight in the holes on the cardboard. that might make a mess if it fell onto the floor  then you'll have bigger problems then "which holes the bolts go in".

That is what I'm teaching my kids. I just use a magnetic tray to hold everything.
