alright guys i am gonna be in the market for a motor for an 86 t3, my question is, does an 87-88 t4 motor fit into the 86 t3 chassis? are they similiar to the 86-87 t3 or completely different?

Completely different.

Search the forums and you should find info and picks of a newer KX 250 swapped into the 86/87 chassis. Relatively easy from what I remember. Go find a 500 motor!!! 90-up are the best.

only motors that will bolt in directly are the 86/87 tecate and the 86 kx 250 motorcycle, at least thats what i have found. the motorcycle has different gear ratios but the cases, cylinder, and head are the same. T4 is completly different its counter balanced , im not sure on the air cooled 84/85. you can check the part numbers for the crank cases on kawasaki.com

bummer...well guess i will be searching for an 86-87 motor then. was seriously thinking of going with a 500, but i am gonna go with the 250. no need for all the power and speed of the 500, trails, lake riding, and closed course mx is what i will be ridding it on. scottyms...the 84-85 isnt aircooled, they have a radiator on the triples.

No need for all that power?? LOL LAke riding it would be fun Scoot and no more heavy clutch work in tight trails with the right gearing. Shoot I hear you'd never go back to a 250 again. Soon see I guess,,,
