Wow. That seems unreal...I assume there was no rust when you put it way...was it the chromed PT?

Another "temporary fix" you can do is use WD-40, or I guess atleast I do... and my bike still shines in most places...

I would wire wheel it and get it coated with some kind of plating.

I already have one. Just need to get a couple dents fixed and then it's going to get the ceramic treatment along with my Type 6. :Bounce

If its just light surface rust, wet sand it, with some fine sand paper, and buff with steel wool, to get the original finish back and wipe it down with Mop-N-Glo, might need a few coats, it will turn a light gold color after some run time and look good again (Mop-N-Glo) is an old school 2 stroke street bike trick, works good and makes it look like a works pipe (I think they look better than chrome if done right) Reapply the Mop-N-Glo when you wash it. Jet Hot. Getting both my Paul Turners done but the high rev needs a little work first. I'm going to see if any of the locals want to get theirs done at the same time. You get a discount the more pipes you do at once.

Is it safe to sand blast it? I found a guy who will chrome it for me but he wants it pretty clean..would sandblasting it hurt the pipe any?

Heres a link to the powdercoater I use in Clackamas, he does great work.... http://blakelykustomkoatings.com/

Fox that link worked the other day when I posted it, its for Ceramic chroming... $75.00 for a pipe and $35.00 for a silencer, you drop it off and pick it up in a couple weeks, no prep.... They are across the street from The Bomber off McGloughlin. on Silverline RD....

it should not rust now that it's coated.. just make shure to take care of the spooge if it leaks out of the cyl and drips on the pipe.. it will bake on and discolor it.

This guy that lives in Gilbert pulled the dings. Did a good job too. Got all the dings out for 40 bucks and there were like 6 dings in this pipe. If you want his number just PM me.

The "new" pipe looks good. It's too late now but back in the day a rusty pipe on a two stroke 250 was almost like a fashion statement for a while (seriously). Check out some old mid-80's Dirt Wheels or 3 Wheeling mags and you'll see what I mean.

I'm picking mine up tomorrow. Hope I didn't waste my money on what started out as a pretty beat up pipe. Ended up costing more than it should have too (imo anyway). The grand total is $86.48 so it better last a LONG time.

I had to fab my front bracket...All my paul turners pipes never mounted correctly if i remember right..My other Rs i had, i never even used the front mount..

Dammit!
04-04-2007, 02:03 AM
Got a pic of the mount you fabbed up? On the ones you ran without a front mount, was it just the springs holding it on or what?

This thing is really irritating me to the point that I'm just about ready to put the FMF back on and say to hell with the Paul Turner. I wish I had tried it out before I spent the money on getting it coated. I'll probably take a loss on it now if I decide to sell it.
