The clutch in my 85 R is on its way out and i was wondering if you had any opinions on the clutch kits sold on ebay or should i stick with an oem kit. Ive seen Barnett and Vesrah on ebay, does anyone have experience with these. I dont want to put anything in too heavy duty that will kill my forearm, because its already pretty stiff.
thanks

some aftermarket clutch discs are thinner then stock and will cut into the basket faster then stock
its the springs that make a clutch hard to pull but a good lever and perch will fix that....unless your basket is already grooved

I would stick with oem honda cluth plates and metals, stock springs also. The aftermarket cluth plates are harder than the basket and usually pretty thin and tend to wear grooves in the basket. 250r's are known for getting grooved baskets, probably 10% of 250r's now have the stock basket in them. Also switching to a 89 update for the cluth, makes things easier. I have 2 250r motors with stock baskets, one is a never run school motor(mint, minus top end), the other is school motor, that was taken apart, I bought it in pieces and had it re-assembled. A new cable makes things alot easier also, every once-in-awhile, take off the cable and spray oil in there, move it around till it moves effertlessly.

Is your Motor built?
No, have a PT hi rev pipe on order and new carb. will be ordered soon. And probably a set of reeds when all that goes on.
I would just use stiffer Clutch Springs.Everything else stock.
This will help with Forearm Pump.
