So i'v just finshed ordering all the parts to have the top end rebuilt on my 200E tri moto. Also i have a new cam sprocket on it's way because the one my bike now has hair line cracks in it:rolleyes: . the whole reason that kicked this rebulid off is the fact i'm losing oil out of the gaskets, and what a mess it's making. there sand and pebbles and all the goodies from the dirt road stuck to it. Also while i have the engine out for the top end job i'm going a head a striping the rest of the bike down for a good cleaning and paint job.:p

so heres what i ordered.

- top end kit
- piston rings
- dust cover for my breaks so i can use them in the winter (keep the snow out)
- air filter
- oil filter
- sprocket
- drive shaft housing ( the orignal one is damaged)

Now here a question, when i rebuild the top end (again this time the right way) should i go ahead and use PERMATEX® ULTRA COPPER® Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker like i did last time (substitution for the yamabond) or should i forget it and just use the gaskets. The main idea here is to stop the oil leaks.

Oh and the rear end has already been done, new bearings through out and seal's, and the spine on the drive shaft is perfect, not a mark on it:w00t: ..not bad for all the towing it's done

Are the surfaces where the gasket meet smooth with no gouges?

Try to stay away from Gasket Maker. It can get inside the motor and get in the

oil valley's and plug them up.It can cause all kind s of problems.

when i take it down i'll check for gouges and any thing that i think will or might cause a problem. Is there any thing else that i should change?. i'v already changed the rocker arms and cam because of the ticking sound that was driving me nuts. the only thing i haven't change is the valves. When i checked the last time i had it apart they where sitting right in the seats when closed.

i agree with this "Do it rite,DON'T HALF ASS IT." i don't mine spending the money on the parts, simply put. if it's done right the first time it will last..if it's done half ass it won't last

There is a good service manual. find your bike, and click.

I also have the ticking sound from the, rockers/ cam. This summer I plan to rebuild. Web cam, new rockers, and cross shafts. If it needs valve guides I will have that done also.

Report back if the cam and rockers solves your ticking problem. I don't like the noise either.
