Upgrade to a 200x or save up??

Is upgrading to a 200x worth it? I have a 1981 Atc200. Its just a plain 200. Not e or es or s or anything. Its solid all the way around. No suspension. Eventually I want to get an Atc 250 or 350 but cant afford one right now unless anyone has any good deals. Anyway I found a 200x and was wondering if it would be a good upgrade for now from the plain 200. The 200x has suspension all the way around, but what about power. I know that the gearing and drive train can make a big difference on different trikes even of the same size. Just wonderin if anyone has ridden both of them and could tell me if there is any difference or if they are basically the same power and ride wise.

It's worth it for the manual clutch and suspension alone in my opinion.

ok i had 200x,250sx,200s,200m,200es,185,250es.. and the 200x was by the far the nicest riding bike ever .. this one had a 200m top end and carb but it was still a great laff.. my advice to u is sell the 200 and get the 200x u wont b dissapointed:beer .. u can always sell it to me :cool:

i sure love my 85 200x, but im thinking i am going to part with it and get an 86... if you got the x, you definitely wouldnt be dissappointed, and when you were ready for an r or 350x, you could just sell it and most likely get your money back out of it...

Yeah.. in my experience the X is a great bike. Its a HUGE upgrade from an ATC200.

The 200X is an awesome ATC. Light, quick and trustworthy. Beware that many of these ATC's have cracked engine cases, welded frames and frozen swingarm bolts just to name a few. You can grab a 200X pretty cheap and then save up for what you really want....

Thanks, I've actually found a 350x, a 250r, and a 200x all in really good shape. Unfortunatly the price is higher with each size up. Ill see if I can talk the bigger bikes down, and if not I'll go with the 200x for now.
How does the 200x handle on sand? power wise?

In stock form it should do all rite in the sand with the proper tires.

Just the upgrade to a trike with suspension is going to be great,nevermind the power.
I just sold my KLT200 which was bascilly the same set up as your ATC200 and got an 82 R ,the track around my property is a completely diffrent riding experience with suspension!!!!!!

Im having a hard time letting to 200 go because it is sooooo light and responsive. With 12" wide tires I've beat my friends 4 wheeler in the snow because they are too heavy and sink. I can virtually float accross anything on my wheeler. It weighed in just over 300lbs the other day without me on it. Each back tire was 92 and the front was 120. Gads-I cant get over it.

200x however the kick start gears are known to brake. but other than that i herd they are nice machines.

It would be hard to explain until you rode a 200x. It is a fine machine and probably the most produced sport trike Honda made. It's about the same size as your 200 with a clutch, suspension and more powerful engine. It is a little heavier, but that's because it has a swingarm, rear shock, front shocks and a beefier frame. Unless you find a suspension frame for your 200, you won't find a cheaper way to go. Here's some pics of my bolt on suspension frame 185s with aftermarket front suspension also, very fun to ride.
