hello everyone I need to replace the bearings in my front wheel. the problem is is that every dam bolt on this machine is coroded and frozen solid. :lock: can some one run me thru the process in more detail then the manual.
i did remove the pinch bolt. is the axle reverse thread? i have no way of gettting a socket on the mangled axle end, it doesnt even look like a six point end any more. i might have to weld something on to get it out if i dont get any other ideas. thanks again

yeah.. LOL. I believe yamahondaman here on the boards make real trick stainless steel axles. Might want to consider one of those if yours needs replacing.

the axle is a 14mm 1.5 pitch, same as most honda's and alot of bike swingarm bolts. I have gotten stuck axles out with a impact wrench, but if you don't have a head on the bolt, get a big bolt, cut a section with the head on, weld it to your axle. I have gotten many stuck bolts out with a impact wrench. Also it can't hurt to heat the aluminuim till its very hot, this should make getting the bolt out easier.

sometimes you have to destroy stuff, to get the jo done, unfortunity. On my 250r, the axle was rusted to the collar, in order to get it out, I hit the bolt out, but the collar and the one side bearing came out with it. The axle took a good amount of the impact wrench to get out from the forks. It took alot of heat and beating to get out axle out from the collar. Thankfully I got another axle before I started this, the axle became the victom. The threads on the end were far beyond use, I now use that axle as a punch. I would get a tap for the axle threads, I guarntee you, that the threads are messed up and the new axle will go in alot easier after tapping. Coat the bolts and axle end with anti-sieze, you will thank yourself the next time you try to get it out.
