Hi I am new to the site, and this is my first post. i have a 85 250r and I was wondering if you can use a 86 250r frame to replace the 85 frame? Will the engine and mounts line up? Or is there anything that will not transfer over smoothly. Thank you for your time :)

Welcome to the site, your gonna like it here.
Frame will swap over just fine. Differences between the 85 and 86 are minor. Rear bearing carrier, seat, engine color, I know there are toerhs I just can't think of them right now. I'm sure toehrs will chime in and tell you everything exactly.

The major difference in the frames is the rake is different, there are other differences(minor through the whole bike) too. You will need 45mm 10mm 1.25 pitch bolts for bottom bolts of the foot pegs. The swingarm will swap over to the 86 frame. I like how a 86 frame handles over 85 frame, its more stable at speed, the 85 frame turns better.
YO YO YO!!!! whats going on gringo!!!!! welcome aboard man!!!! this place rulz!!! why do you want to change your frame out? the other one shot or somethin??

hi Skolincolin,
The frame is not shot , but not in the shape I would like it. I have a 86 frame in great shape, and a brand new coat of paint. What my plan was to. Transfer the 85 over to the 86 and possible fix. No scratch that definetly fix the small , but bother some inperfections. And repaint, then store. Thanks

Also thank you Deathman53 This is the info I came here for. i know this will be just a start in a long journey ahead of rebuilding. Not only this machine, but I have another one to do also. This one will be minor the other one will be much more involved. I think I am going to go to the, why do we have this 3 wheeler compulsion thread. it will probably help me understand," my affliction". Wife's terms not mine. LOL
