Those of you who have an auto X what did you do for the rear brake pedal?

I have a 200s engine in my 83 200x frame. I need some ideas for the brake pedal. :wondering

Thanks

Well I used to buy foot pegs off of ebay (IfI could get them for under $5) and powder coat them in my garage and resell them for a profit and I once bought a set of pegs for a dollar supposed to be off a 200x. When they came the guy had welded a shaft to mount the pedal to the inside of the right foot peg. I never knew what it was for until I started checking out this forum thats when it occured to me this was off of a auto x project. It was pretty crafty actually. I sold them as such on ebay a year or so later for around $25 just as I received them. I started the bid at what I paid 1$. Hopefully someone got some use for them.

Here is how I did it. First thing was I found 2 big washers that fit over the footpeg mount. I then welded them to the larger diameter foot brake mounting hole to "decrease" the size of the hole for mounting. This could also be done with a billet piece that fits into the brake petal like a bushing. Then a little cutting and pasting to get the foot petal to where it needs to be. We added a center piece for some added length. Then we mounted th linkage to the bottom of the revamped foot brake. We just made up a piece that fit for the linkage. You can get the idea from these pictures. Hope that helps. This seams like a big mystery to Auto X builders, and it is really pretty easy to do.

Bean - neat work - I like the no-linkage idea. Would be easier than my method.

so far its worked good, it hasent bent under some heavy use the s pedal is good and thick so it made it good to weld but i did put a bolt inside it to give it support where i cut and welded it

I think I bought it from you. I sold it to a fellow board member last month.

i did the same as tim,, cut a piece of pipe and cut and welded a aircooled r lever to it, little bending and works great..
