I've heard some rumors around 3WW.com and at the honda dealership that a crf230 engine will drop into a atc200x frame because a xr200 motor will, and the crf230f was made as an improved xr200. If this is true, I've found myself a new summer project for my X for sure!

well I would imagine it would be a pretty simple project really.

I have been looking for a few years for one of those 230's as a 70 conversion. The closest I could find was the Jianshee 200 which has proven to be really well built.

I don't believe anyone has tried it yet but the consensus is that it will work. The biggest problem is that the CRF motors are not cheap. The bikes have only been out a few years, making this the most expensive motor transplant.

would a 230 transmission hold up to the traction of 2 tires compared to one???? just a thought.......

Being its from a bike it will very likely make the 200X have odd gear spacing. A friend of mine did the CRF450 conversion into a TRX250R frame. Gearing never felt right.

I have a crf450r in trx250r(aftermarket) frame. The gearing doesn't seam quite right, its either too high or too low. the dirtbike motor was designed to turn one wheel and less traction verses the atv with 2 wheels, big axle and heavier.
