WELL,, R00STY ,, another east coaster gets a chance to see the mother of all sand dunes, friday and saturday we tore up the sand , no mud ,no rain ,no frost and saturday no clouds,, it was a cool 70 degrees nice sunshine and fantastic smooth sand!!! it was perfect conditions for a great ride. there was a very small amount of people for some reason ,, all the better it helped keep the sand smooth for us to cut up, we had a great time ,, can't wait for him to chime in and give a complete first timmers report on his expierences riding SAND ,,,, :beer

I've been wanting to go out there since I first saw pics of the place in the early 80's. Maybe...just maybe, I'll get to in a year.

Where the hell to start..... First and foremost, THANK YOU KASEY!!!! This guy is unfricken believeable!!! Gots him a great family also!! Thanks to the chicky who let me borrow her ride, I didn't hurt it much... I am in awe, still even after messing around with airports for 12 hours yesterday. Anyway, like the man said there were few people there Friday, a few more Saturday, the dunes are the *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited*, very intimidating at first, but unlike anything I have ever ridden on before, I guess it could be compared to riding on water, if that were possible, oh yeah, water with 10 to 300 foot waves. Almost Dan Dale'd it on the first dune, learned quickly after that to turn at the top, one roll back, on the 3rd one no casualties just a ripped open finger, had a severe bottom out at the bottom of a 200 footer, it didn't roll out like the others I had been in, so it pretty much ripped one of my hands right off the bars, good thing my face was there to hit the tripple and stop the downward momentum, after that it was smooth sailing for the rest of Friday, during the day, then I agreed to go out in the dark with this dune god/guide of mine, holy chit, I needed some buggy lights for that one, I couldn't see a damn thing, that's where I ended up in the bottom of a bowl, unsure of how to get out, but Kasey was there to shed some light and get me up out of there, stayed in the low brushy stuff after that, I wanted to live... lol Saturday picked up a little, started out the morning with a couple passes with the 500, I'd kill myself on that thing if it were mine, guess that's why I don't have one. I must give the props where they are due, that thing rips, and is time tested to hold up to just about anything. Olds was kicking a little on Sat. got to wach Kasey punk alot of wanna-bee's, fell in love with a girl on a dirtbike, all in all it would have been worth walking there to experience all that, I will be back. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff out, but will add more as I process it all. Also for those of you who say that Glamis would be boring, or that dunes are nothing to ride, I challenge you to go out there and try to play keep up with Kasey for an hour. Or even just ride like you say you can at home, and see where that gets you.........
Thanks to Steph, for the wonderful day we had Wed. she's a great girl, and a wonderful tour guide, other than she didn't warn me about the jumping cactus, lmfao, I think she has a pic.
For one million cool points....... I lost a sock at Glamis, anyone know how???? :D

I have riden the 500 also....NICE TRIKE...no vibration/very smooth, great handling....Professionally built for sure.....
Bout those imperial valley dunes, nothing like riding AND getting an adrenaline dump over every razor.....
watch it though.....riding on the edge, so high you can touch the sky, unsure of whats on the other side, can be frightening, but is very addicting....r00sty is an adrenaline junkie!!!....LOL........and that feeling never subsides with experience or time....by far the best place to ride (plus for the old guys you don't get beat to death from the bumps)
r00sty
it will be hard for you to ride hardpack with the same vigor again....LOL, so next time bring some friends, make it a yearly trek....We can call it "r00styfest"
BTW,
I'm very bummed that I flopped and peeled out 1 week too early

Wednesday was awesome, glad you got used to cooking your own burger, too! =) Sounds like someone has a new respect for the dunes...but I'd still like to see what it is you ride over there!!!! How'd you lose the sock? Couldn't be the Merrell monster.....so what was it?
And I was waiting for permission for this, haha.
wanna play catch?
