Hey guys
Having trouble with the new 250r.
It ran like a train for the first couple of hours then it started to miss and bit, l thought this was dirty fuel etc. So cleaned out carb and changed fuel. Still no good.
Then when riding out the back paddock it just stopped. I have checked all the electrical stuff CDI, coil etc with the multimeter but still haven't been able to sort. There is no spark at all...
Anyone had simular problems..
Cheers.

Would it be the winding in the engine??

flywheel key, I had 2 250r's like this. I put them in wrong when I assembled them. If you keep breaking flywheel keys, its a pretty good chance your crank bearings are bad.
Change plug mate for sure.or yes flywheel keys ive had mine stripp on me a few times and the flywheel spun on the crank.but deffinately sounds exactley like a plug gone

well not to be an ass but if it's "new" then you just got it so how can you be sure that the engine has never been apart?
when you say you checked the plug did you change it for a brand new one.i know its annoying when people say change the plug its allways wat people think to be the prob but seriously man these 250rs have got a bad habbit of doing it often after ridnig for awahile turning them off then starting them and riding hard straight away can glaze the electrode.they dont seem to just stop they give you abit of warning then seem to break down like miss fire and stuff then soon just stop.if not check all electrics *Edited**Edited* pulling into the motor check all the simple stuff.you say the motors never been apart doesnt mean things arent going to go wrong.

pull the stator cover off and check the flywheel and such in there.
Pull all electrical connections off and fill them with di-electric grease and reinstall. This includes the headlight switch, headlight wiring, cdi plug, stator wiring, tail light, coil plugs and plug boot but dont forget to check the ground. Once that is all set, then you can start hitting stuff with a multimeter. Check dammit's post about service manuals. The CDI probably isnt bad, but also check the coil and its boot.

Had same problem - No Spark , turn out to be a CDI ...
Check to see if your stator has any rust inside or water ?

Every time ive had a problem with spark it was usually the stator. Take the cover off and see if its rusty from water getting in from a broken-missing cover gasket, even if it isnt check it. Do you have a book for it? If not a genuine honda service manual can be bought on ebay for pretty cheap money
