It has loads of extras on it and WITH it and I will post just pic's of the trike 1st then all the EXTRAS that came with it.
See what you guys can pic out that is aftermarket & Hondaline.
This definitly rates up there as one of the best ATC deals of any model, PERIOD! (I think anyway)
I just can't believe it myself yet that I actually have it AT HOME !!
It looks a bit nicer in the pic's then it really is but all and all it's a good solid, VERY SOLID piece of machinery. It still has the original tires on yet but are definitly at the replacement stage with rear being worn more then the front. The guy ran snowies on for the winter and I got them with it also.
Look close at the motor, what do you see?
Once I post everything (I have to sort it all out) I'll tell you what I paid for it.

I got another one with it. I did not take my tank off yet but I don't think this bracket is to the R though? Maybe it's to 200X edog ? :naughty:
I can give you better close up's of the one on the R in the future if you like?
Huffa
01-21-2007, 03:07 PM
Overall view of parts I got with it. The fairing you see on the R is not any of the ones in pictures, these are extras + I have the one that I just won a few weeks ago.
Check out the sealed 300 directions and the box, I love stuff like that!
What you see there is another 300 cylinder & head + the stock 250 one.
I think he said the 300 one needs a sleeve as it has a gouge in it. Not sure if you can do that or not?
This machine is a one owner jobber and the guy is a Honda mechanic. Has 3-5 hours on the 300 cylinder that is on it now.

That is how I found the R !! I won a brand new fairing on ebay realizing that I don't even have a trike to put it on and figured someday I will.
4 days later I walk in to a Honda shop with it to see if they just so happen to have any brackets and the owner tells me that Gary has an R with one on it and two spares also.
One thing led to another and a week later (today) I not only got the bracket but a whole freakin R !

Yea, they would of worked great but then for tighter trails I hate to have that fairing on. The one on it now has 2 cracks that he glue gun repaired.
I think it's only good for certain situations (frozen lake riding, out in the desert) and others (most others  ) it would suck and you just end up busting it up.
I do have two good ones now, so that's cool! :naughty:

Nice Find, what a great load of old school stuff.
We made stabilzers for quads back in the day using a volkswagon stablizer but I can not remeber which on. We just welded a heim joint to the end and made a bottom bracket.
I saw an add for those super scoops in one of the ATV News mags I got , but I currently loaned them out so when I get them back I will shoot you a scan , can't remeber who made them. Are yours Maier?
PS love the old school decals

If you call Maier ,,, ask for Jeff (production Mng. or general Mng (I think is his position). He just went to bat for me (huge big) on running a T-3 fender in red for me to match the next to last set of T-3 red fenders they will produce.
Of course ,,, Aussie is awesome too. Nothing like doing business with one of our own.
Again ,,, GREAT reading and glad you shared it with us Huffa !

To the day it's 23 years and 1 month old. He gave me the official Honda warranty card (still under warranty I guess) with the date on it. His name is Gary, mines Gary.
It's funny though, he worked on a cycle I had well over 20 years ago and I had an issue with him pertaining to the work he did. Been so long ago I could not begin to remember what bike, what the issue was or anything and now 20-25 years later I end up buying his machine! Good guy that Gary ! :beer

Also .........This is a compliment to you Z guys. I'm not sure if it's true because I never rode a Z but the R sure looks more top heavy and boatier to me then the Z for sure and that's mainly because of your TANK BEING UNDER THE SEAT.

The STUFF it has.........on it now
1) fairing
2) DG pipe & silencer
3) front brake resivoir guard
4) SS F & R brake lines
5) Tri Max Bog Buddies rear fender extentions ........never saw them before ??
6) A giant 36MM Mikuni carb with Boyesen reeds - stock carb is a 30MM kiehem That's quite a drastic, is that normal to go that high? I guess maybe with the 300 kit?
7) 300 kit
8) Super duper high output stator for a brighter headlight + a 200X rectifier (I think)on lower triple clamp so you don't blow a bulb
9) Stabilzer
10 ) old school stickers
11) Answewr Handle bars that I don't like, seem too high for sure, maybe too wide too?
12 Twist grip throttle ........not sure if I like that or not?
I think that is about it as far as what's on it right now.

They looked very similar to the ones on this pipe. But then looking at the other pipe, they could be very different. I just noticed the bottom welds.

Fully extended = 15 & 1/2
Fully compressed = 11 & 1/2
I didn't measure it to the 1/16 of an inch, but that is darn close.
As far as shock travel, you have a good 3/4" to go with it compressed & extended so it (my other one) should work on other machines as well.

The shock/bracket assembly you see off the R is the one that is on it, I just took it off to see if it still had damping left in it yet and if it worked smoothly, it still does and flows nice yet.

that little TT track you set up was cool. due to the cold and ice and snow my brakes were sticking so that last time you were following me i could not use them. and my chain kept poping off it did it twice at the track.
when i was chasing you they stuck on at the one corner at the far end.i almost took you out in that one i was i inch or so from hitting the side of your rear tire going for the pass.
it never popped the last time i rode it at Chris's ride. i guess that cheap non oring chaion is shot already due to the monsterous 13 horsepower of the auto x.
raffas almost wreck was pretty cool looking. it was a good save.

you can not get the pro wedges. they make pro wedges 2 now. somehow they are a little different. i was selling a set of pro wedges on ebay. everyone wanted to know if the were just pro wedges and not the pro wedge 2
which ones do you have? it will have a numeral 2 after the pro wedge word.

theres still plenty out there as far as pro wedge 1's witch he has, it's the pro wedge with the reinforced rings in the sidewalls and thicker bars are the ones that are no longer and really hard to find!...And ohtsu is out of business so there is no more being made, but there out there, just got to know where to get them.

Those are for a 200 X I think, they almost fit the R, the holes are very close but the shape just does not flow right.
They have brackets on them too.

I'll think about it but I love having these type items all over the place in my garage just to check out once in a while.
Honestly though, I'm not sure if the cyclinder can be resleeved or not? I would assume so? I don't have a piston for the kit though, just the cylinder & head.
Makes me wonder why the guy had a 2nd kit though? I'll bet he bought them dirt cheap being that he works at a Honda shop!

If there is a TRACK to ride on, maybe I will but for the trails I'd rather ride my SX.

That is where the R's, Z's & Teacate's belong and I'm pretty sure the only place where mine will ever go. My attitude would be different if it was a beater R and for sure this one is not but even then, if it was, I'd rather have a 4 stroke for trail riding.

Here ya go smeyers .........
I guess you wouldn't use both super scoops and the fork mount scoops together as that just seems like overkill to me.
The R scoop fitment is poor while the L don't look too bad but on my R the DG pipe rubs on it which will melt the plastic for sure.
The L scoop bolts right on while the R scoop is off just a smidgen 1/4" or so and I could only get one bolt on.
I'm not sure if I even like the fork mount scoops? May just hang them on the wall and never use them although it is cool to have a item on that no one else has but if it's geeky looking then what's the point, ya know?
Funtion wise you can see they are not a gimmick though from the front view pic.
I would not use these 200 X scoops on an R and want ones that fit perfect but this at least gives you an idea. :beer
BTW, the whole fairing (not bracket assembly for fairing) comes off with just two bolts and two screws, takes only a few minutes. I thought there was more to it then that. Quite simple. I really do like it with the fairing on though, looks like some sort of beach patrol trike, they should have used this R set up with fairing on Baywatch! :beer

The fork tube ones your talking?
If so, they need to be a satin black as there is way to much red up there. They would look good with the fork boots then. I like red, but too much of it gets
No.....the Air Scoops.
Those scoops are not for the 200X.The distance between the screw holes is to short.
What does it look like now?

A new swingarm buffer has been a major hold up to putting whole rear end back together since you can't get them anymore. One is being made, hopefully, as I speak.

I'll leave you know in the next few days Mike, now if you had a nice swingarm buffer  oh my god!!!, I'd pay top buck for it !!!
That is one heck of a hard part to find that is "healthy" any more!
I pray that the one being made goes as planned and everything works out but just in case it doesn't, that's why I keep asking about them.
So the 84 OEM fender is N/A anymore, correct ?

How bout some updates on this rebuild buddy. I'm dyin here. :D
So a simple chain buffer is the only thing holding you up? Last time I checked it was the stuck bolts in the triple trees. ever get that figured out? I thought all this trike needed was to be regeared and some axle bearings? what happened? :naughty:
I'm not too familiar with these air cooler sliders... but couldn't you just get a strip of nylon,, heat it a bit and bend and mount it around the end of the swinger? :wondering What I'm thinkin here is are you familiar with the nylon rails on the bottom of the old school skateboards? wouldn't something similiar to this work? just drill some new holes and mount it to the swinger. WALAA!
Post a pic of this slider so we can help you look for something close or similiar that may work? There's gotta be something close off another bike or quad. your not absolutly stuck on having OEM are you?

The triple tree was done long ago, I got another one and painted it up.
The All Balls bearing kit you turned me on to Chris worked great, then I painted the swinger up.
The slider is being made by Jason Hall and no, a OEM is out of the question Chris because you can't get them new anymore and certainly most all are well worn by now.
I did post pic's of the slider on page two here
http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=74989 ....you muct have missed this post I guess ?
It's just not that simple guys to JUST mount any piece of material up being that the swingarm is not perfectly flat, i say have one built to fit right, then other members don't have to go thru this ordeal figuring out what to do as they will be available then as long as the construction goes OK with Jason and he wants to make more.
