Hey guys, been lurking around the site for the last year trying to fix up my 350X and now I need some of your valued opinions on a trike deal I've found:rolleyes:
The guy has 3 machines all are 2 owner 1985 250R's, two of them are stock looking machines and although dirty appear to be decent riders (not show queens). The third has been stripped and is mostly back together in a black frame and yellow plastics(new) color scheme, all the parts are there to complete it.
There are a few items that need attention ie fork seals, a gummed up carb, old fuel, etc. but all three do run , have a Paul Turner port jobs (has reciepts) and have a bunch of spare parts, like stock pipes, seats, shrouds, a shock, forks and about 5 sets of wheels and tires.
The other item is a 14' enclosed wells cargo trailer , older but it looks in decent shape.
Sorry I don't have any pics
Do you think this is all worth $4500 and a 16 hr round trip.

Thanks for such a great site

Ross..

damn the trailer is almost worth that!!! I would say yes each running trike would be about 1000 a peice the third about 600 and that makes the trailer around 1900so it works out decent, but if you can get him down to 4000 even your golden, it also depends on the condition of the trailer

Thanks fellas, This came up just before Christmas and I've been sitting on it for a month or two. I found a couple of pics, hopefully they load, the trailer is older (mid 80's) but low milage, has been more of a storage spot for these as they havn't been used for a couple years.

Well thanks for the encouragement, I drove down this weekend and picked up the trikes and trailer. WOW what a lot of stuff packed in there. The two red ones took a bit to start (2 yrs sitting) but they did and after warning up we rode up and down the street and do they boogie!!. Roll on in third and the wheel is off the ground. All trikes are complete down to the E brakes and skid plates, just really dirty. All were ported at Paul Turner's back in 85 and have pipes as well, I know 1 is a PTR pipe but not sure on the other 2. Original pipes and mufflers are there and like new. 2 extra sets of forks, 5 sets of tires & rims, box's of stuff I'll go thru today. The One with the new yellow plastics has a black powder coated frame but needs the seat redone, I was thinking a black seat with 250 and Honda in Yellow?? any other thoughts?. Tons of original paperwork as well. Owners manuals, owners cards, service manual, correspondence with Paul Turner, as well as 85 dealer pricing sheets from PTR. Envelope of classic race decals,New chains, clutches, chain sliders, bla bla bla.
And an enclosed trailer to boot.
I'll try and post some pics this afternoon as I go thru the boxes

Thanks again
Ross

I know, I've seen their custom stuff and they will be doing it, I just need to put it together and get rid of the tall black Hi-flite so I can try to imagine something.(not a creative mind). They will be getting my 350X seat on Monday for a Restore.

Spent the weekend cleaning up the machine that was powdercoated and will have all yellow plastics, I think it turned out way nice. I think the other two will be pretty much the same after a good cleaning / detailing. I'm psyched , this is my firsrt 250R:Bounce

Didn't seem to be any trouble at all, but it's not done yet:rolleyes: . All you need to do is know more than the border services guy and your set.
RIV (Registrar of Imported Vehicles) states any trike under 15 yrs old is inadmissable and the first thing he says is no trikes allowed, I explained that these are over 15 yrs old old and if RIV wanted to exclude trikes it would say all three wheelers are inadmissable, after discussing with his co-worker he said I was correct:)
All trikes and the trailer had clear titles which they took copies of and I'm supposed to hear from the MTO (Ministry of Transportation) this week to get my Ontario Ownerships. At the border I needed Titles, Bill of sale, drivers liscence, money for the GST tax on purchase price.
Will post traler pics tonight.

Outside of the trailer
So far the only problem I've had with the first R was a siezed brake pad retaining pin, 1 in the front and 1 in the rear caliper. Odd seeing as they have never been removed:D .
Original brake pads and the pistons still on the stock bore (although it is worn), it just keeps getting better.
