I just got a JT front sprocket for my 85 R and noticed it has like a
"flange" on one side making it offset and the other side is flat and does not have this.
Does the "flanged" side go in towards the engine and the flat side out?

If it's like i'm thinking it goes out.

So the flat side of sprocket goes in toward engine?
The flanged side has the markings with the tooth size, model number and brand.

Here is a pic. The sprocket on left has that "offset flange" and is a better visual what I am talking about.

what does your old sprocket look like? hold this one up to your old one and make sure they have the same amount of offset off the motor

typically the flange goes towards the motor. The flange adds clearance for the larger sealed (o, x, t -ring chains) so they do not hit the cases.

Yeah it does not make sense to put that washer over the flange.
I installed it so flange is toward engine and ran it. Did not throw chain and seems to be lined up.
