I have a serious axle nut problem on my hands and have been looking for a set of axle nut wrenches.

I see the short ones on ebay for 30-40 bucks but I dont know how well they work..

anyone know where to get a set of the longer ones? or ever use the short ones?

also - anyone have a neat tool for the tri-zinger axle nuts?

atc wrenches on ebay: ( the only ones I can find) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motion-Pro-Honda-ATV-Axle-Wrench-Set-41mm-Rancher-Recon_W0QQitemZ140070685667QQihZ004QQcategoryZ3428 4QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

I just take a cheap large cresent wrench adjsut it to fit well, then weld the hell out of it so it stays, 5 bucks at the dollar general!

You can't use a pipe wrench for them???? I always used a pipe wrench for the axle nuts on my honda's. I used a pipe wrench on my friends yfz, banchee and my old warrior.

i use a pipe wrench that has a pipe welded on it.. works like a charm!

I use a pipe wrench too, most of the time I slip a long pipe on the end to make it even easier. The only thing is it chews up the nuts a little so don't use them on a show bike.

Yep, I use a pipe wrench aswell. Gets those nuts loose. I am going to give the welded up crescent a go aswell.

Go to sears and buy the right size wrenches. They sell big ones, and they're not too expensive.

I forgot to mention, if you cannot get that axle nut off, get the angle grinder out and cut through the axle nut and chisel it off.

ha - I have done that before but its no fun... it takes a minute and is such a pain

no one has used the short wrenches?

the one i am working on is a rear end that is dismounted. that seems to make it even harder. I put it in a vice earlier and closed it as tight as I could... still started turning in the vice... until my channellocks exploded and hit the wall!

i would of thought the pipe wrench would have worked on the zinger ring nut because its round but it just started cutting into the nut.

The short wrenches don't have much leverage.

you think they would be ok if I welded extensions on them?

They should be fine.

Find a friend with a large high-quality crescent, why weld it? adjust it tight and break it loose...

I hope it doesnt have to come to that... i am going to keep trying on these for a while and will post the outcome.
if anyone has a set of the longer wrenches they will part with I am looking..

i use a adjustable wrench about 20'' long....works great and the jaws are wide.

the ones you showed in that link are real skinny and i would think they would bend if the nut is real tight

I measured the nut and went to the local Northern Tool and purchased a combination wrench. It's about 2 feet long and I had no problem getting the nuts off and back on. It cost about $17. Now if I could just find a place to store the stupid thing until I need it again!
