I just put on a 15 tooth on my 86 200x, and it actually runs alot better with it than the stock gearing. The sprocket they ordered fit the shaft, but i had to grind it down so that the ring clip would fit in the groove. So It must have been for a 250r or another honda model. So I take one link out and its not enough, put one in and its too long. Even on full adjustment its just too long.

So now what are my other options? Would a 14 tooth give it enough tension to tighten up? Oh and my gearing is 15/38

go to www.jlatvproducts.com and look up there chain tensioner. it mounts up by removing the rear foot peg bolt and placing the tensioner over tha mounting plate and then re-installing the bolt.

the only thing I would change in the mounting process is to get a longer bolt.

try getting a half link.... and i don't mean to argue with you, but their is ALOT of adjustment in those 200x's.. i have one myself... are you sure you can't adjust it??? i would think you would with an extra link or missing a link. but maybe it just seems like alot of adjustment...

ive got a 11 and 40 on my auto x its low but does great on trails i dont do much wide open running

wow bean thats preety low, i coudnt stand mine when it was stock, but i run alot of roads and fields and lakes in the winter, right now i got 12 and 35, im gonna get a 13 tho for the front hopefully enough power to run it

ive tried 12 13 and a 14 didnt like any of the my s motor is mosly stock just a pipe and the x carb it wont pull the higher gear to suit me

Ill look into that chain tensioner? I really like the 15/38 gearing, it fits my riding perfectly. Since I just got a new sprocket in today I had to put the 13 tooth back on so I wouldnt ruin the sprockets again. I think the chain tensioner would work pretty nicely? But how long would it stay still and not have much resistance? I see a kit there to fix it though so it shouldnt be too bad?

How is the 12/35 gearing? That seems like it would be similar to 15/38

i really like the 12/35 setup i have, its great for flying down gravel roads and across lakes, i think i might just try a 13 in front and see how that is, preety much everyone i ride with has 400 exs and i kinda have to try to keep up with them on the strait aways, but thats still hard
