I believe the theory is that it smoothes out the intake charge between the opening and closing of the reed cycle. Does it work? Don't really know. But i know yamaha believed it did something since they used it heavily on early to mid 80s motocross bikes. 82-89 yz80s, 82-83 yz100s, all yz490s and probably a few more yz's, and IT series bikes. I also had a buddy that had a 85 kx500 ( first year liquid and only year not to be powervalved) and i remember it having some sort of boost bottle on it. Banshees also have the provision in the intakes for the bottl but come with a ballance pipe. A lot of sleds have provisions as well. So there must be some sort of science behind it. But at least it makes the Yamahas look cool and keeps some people wondering what energy induction is.

Dont waste your money on a reed spacer. It didn't make any difference on my Z.

Back in the day i did it ... it didn't seem as good as when it had it.. but when i shortened the Hose 3/8" , it seemed better.... the Mantis has the stock one on it .. i ain't messing with it ..i have installed a couple on some ATC's and you couldn't really tell the diff.... on the other hand as far as the Banshee goes ... "they" say the Boost Bottle Help's on a HARDER Mid Punch... from what "we" tested... i KILLED the top Charge some ...
REED Spacer's .......Banshee Likes the 1/4"...Tri-Z likes the 1/8"..ATC Don't like them..TRX Likes the 1/4"-3/8" for the Mid Punch on the MX Track .....
Personally the way i built my "RAG" ... i don't like the Reed Spacer.."i like my TOP POWER"... my "low" is my Clutch.......... my 2cents

Banshee boost bottle is a complete money making gimmick."It" dont get it RAGS!tried em,and ended up getting more of E-bay Than what I got em for.

However,I heard from a reliable source, you are better off running the factory Tri-Z boost bottle than Ditching it and running a reed spacer.

The boost bottle on the Z works better than a reed spacer, and a reed spacer should not be used with a boost bottle. This is why you typically dont see reed spacers made specifically for a TriZ.
