Where is the best place to get fork rebuild kits for the 85 R's? Also some progressive springs probablly. I much rather get them over the internet instead of going to the local dealer. thanks

basically anything and everything to rebuild the forks. I havent cracked into one yet to see what all is there but it cant be too hard. Im totally restoring (not going to be original tho) an 85 R and i dont want half ass it and put some brand new parts on it and then throw some 20 year old forks on the front.

it looks like they would probablly have everything. it might be pretty costly to go that way but if thats what i have to do then i guess i'll have to do it. I was kind of hoping there was some kind of fork rebuild kit that someone sells just to make it easier.

New oil, new fork boots, new seals, new wipers, couple of orings and new bushings (which is rarely done) are all thats needed. There isn't anything else in there that wears out. Should cost under 100$ to rebuild them.
What else do you think you need??????

dust seals. They are the only black visible seal that sit directly under the fork boots where the one fork slides in and out of the other one.

Not to hi-jack your thread but throw out an idea.. Anybody know about using cr250 or cr500 forks on the 85-86R's?

Thumpertalk had an aftermarket seal and wiper kit for my buds 200X for about 34$.

Some people swear to hate aftermarket and others seem to have no problems.

IDK if they ship overseas though....
